So cheating pranks aren't ok to do on your partner?

Today in the morning as a joke, I set up my female cousin to create both a fake account and picture. Then got her to send sexy message on my cell about how fun it was last night and for the past couple months.

Thing is it was just a joke and I would never cheat on her (I never cheated on other previous gfs either) but my girlfriend took it serious, started crying and isn't speaking to me at all.

That is stupid. I have just reduced a key cornerstone of your relationship to a crude dsiplay of behavior. THere are a lot of ways to "inappropriately" joke without attacking the trust in your relationship.

The only way you get a reaction out of her is if she believes you were actually cheating. Think about that for a second, you convinced her that you were cheating, for that moment in time yours and hers relationship was non existent. At best this is a huge mistake, at worst this is mental abuse and manipulation. You might have seen it as a joke, in her world it was real if even for a few minutes, you stripped that out from under her and its not as simple as saying "wooopppsss, i was only kidding hahahaha".

It distorts reality, makes an ever changing and unpredictable environment. These types of jokes that hold the foundation of a relationship hostage are completely off the table as normative behavior in a relationship. Once is a mistake, twice is intentional.
