What does "life is too short to stay stock" mean?

This is what I thought of when I read that line,
there are some people who saves and stocks up for future events/ think retirement (We will work and save now only and buy all these things for the future when we retire, when we finally get to travel)

But life is too short for that, meaning the person who followed that method died before she even got to live the day she was saving for.

Bottom line is that live now, don't wait for tomorrow;

This is almost exclusively about car modding... a lot of people seem to flock to the idea of keeping the original parts/settings/tuning of a vehicle... so it's a call to express yourself through your ride... after all; who wants to see regular traffic at a car meet? you'd probably want to see stuff that surprises you or just that you haven't seen before, hence the purpose of a car meet or car show.
