Who else think Tinder is disgusting and a waste of time?

I actually wanted to write a MyTake post "10 reasons why Tinder is useless and a waste of time" but I'm sure there are guys who will defend this mentality (and argue about how women treat guys on Tinder and real life) so I instead I decided to ask this question.

Ok so first of all, why do they call it a social dating app? I've had this app for some week now , as part of an experiment, I swiped right to almost everyone, got many matches and from these matches, I didn't make any new friend, quality acquaintances let alone dating. The majority of people are there for an ego boost, trolling, looking for Instagram followers or just wanting to get laid. No one cares to actually get to know you as a person, about who you are, where you're from etc. Basic manners, class and politeness are non-existent. Some guys never answer back to your messages (I don't get what's the point of swiping right when you're not interested at soneone), others unmatch you without any notification. At least in real life, you get a "sorry, I'm not interested etc). Others bluntly ask you when to h ook up or send you pics of their private parts, assuming you obviously want to hook up if you're at this app.. (I'm not a prude or anything but that's equivalent of asking a stranger on the street if you want to h ook up)

Tinder is notoriously known as a "hookup app" - probably due to the amount of guys who solely look for sex.

I would say try something like bumble, not as popular, but I feel the people are much more genuine on there (can't say for the guys though)

One queston I can answer, I swipe right to everyone for an ego/confidence boost. I went 3 weeks getting 3 matches swiping the limit every day - no, my standards aren't sky high or anything.

It's also just easier to swipe right, and either unmatch or ignore those who aren't attractive (Some guys just don't message first either)

I disagree about the swiping right and then unmatching or ignoring people. a) swiping right means you like someone and b) basic manners. At least in real life, you'd get a negative polite answer if you approached some one who wasn't interested in you. People like you who defend this mentality are pathetic in my opinion

It's just an app, nothing to get so worked up about, happens all the time, women do it to, so don't only play the victim...
You can't compare Tinder to real life, it doesn't work like that.
I'm not condoning nor defending, i'm just saying WHY people do it & why i've done it in the past.
It's also pathetic that you're getting so butthurt about Tinder which is widely regarded solely as a hookup app, when you're looking for something completely different. You need to put some blame on yourself too, in my opinion.

Where is it regarded as a hookup app? In its description, it says it's a social app for dating, making new friends and acquaintances
If I wanted to get laid, there are plenty of guys in real life, at least you know they're not some weirdo/creeper

That's understandable, neither do guys, but it happens to us daily too - not just on apps like Tinder.

It's not the description, but the stigma, the reputation of the app. Surely at school 90% of people would refer to it as a hookup app, it's always been that way for me (since I was like 16).
True, Tinder is 100% dangerous, yes it's a really small number of guys, but there are some really messed up people on all apps.

Yes but wasting someone's time or playing them to get sex is just laughable and pathetic at the same time. I got complimented by some guy, said he was a looking for a relationship that he prefers brunettes etc. Then I looked up at his instagram (fortunately without planning a date) and realized the guy is a player 😂😂

Some of us who use Tinder *are* looking for a genuine relationship but we barely get any matches (despite swiping a tonne of girls), and when we do get a match, they don't reply when we message them and they usually unmatch with us shortly after. So I'm kinda in the same boat as you.

I am a shy guy so i use tinder, 2 years I've only messenged woman for erotic stuff cuz i was not really into them and didn't feel like goin out, but i found a girl just as fucked up as i am and we meet up because i didn't care about my shyness with her since she was liked her dark humor, and we are now a couple, she is amazing. It really depends on the people, i would say if you are shy yea use it but if you are not, dont waste your time, most my friends (fuckbois) want to get laid because of how they view it, its on the play store so it must be a game
