"I breathe your name in every exhalation."
"animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
Oops... "We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals...
This was one of the first questions that I asked on GaG. I love stuff like this.
Thanks for MHO
If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.
“Je n'avais pas besoin de cette hypothèse-là.”- Pierre-Simon Laplace
Laplace was actually talking to Napoleon in this context. He wrote a book on astronomical bodies and natural science. Napoleon noted this about the book in their conversation: 'M. Laplace, they tell me you have written this large book on the system of the universe, and have never even mentioned its Creator.'
Laplace said he had no need for such a hypothesis.
Y Castañeda? It could be Ruiz or Garcia Marquez...🤔
I don’t know how u able 2 read all his books, he’s 2 much to digest at once man!
I barely made it 2 the 3rd book, he fucked with my head too much! 😹😹😹

@geo_logy Well you know Castañeda has influenced deeply in the way I perceive the world and the way I behave. And his books are a pain when you somehow confront yourself with the reality he talks about, it takes a good introspection and courage to confront it.
@Kaazsz he is an author of a number of anthropological books. 😊

“If you can’t get over it, at least don’t get under it.” This works in so so so many situations. If you can’t get over something, I. e, a situation, a person, or anything, at least Do not get under it, as in stooping lowly, or literally getting under your ex.

As for why, I had lots of anger issues growing up, as well as a desire to be manly, and both of those things got me thrown in jail several times. This is pretty much the perfect quote for me.
This isn't my favourite poetry but its one that I think is fairly useful which is "Less is more."
From a religious point of view it would be "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you."
Of course for some this can be more challenging than others.
1. Making mistakes is better than faking perfections; and,
2. You miss 100% of the shots you never take.
Why? Well, it encourages me to be me and to accept that I am human. It also encourages me to take risks.
They were careless people, Tom and Daisy--they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made. . . .

Favourite quote that can be applied to everything;
Religion is like a penis. It's fine to own one and use one, but don't ram it down our throats.
Somewhere out there, there is a tree, tirelessly producing oxygen so that you can breathe. I think you owe it an apology.
Because there are a lot of stupid people in the world.
"Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth."
-Dostoyevsky
One of my own making.
Very often people choose strength over purpose. Determination over motives. People want leadership more so than they want an ideal.
The Reason by Hoobastank. A powerful song about someone wanting to change and become a better person for the important person in their life.
"She believed she could and so she did." That one is just inspiring to me for some reason.

"If you can't make fun of everything, than you can't make fun of anything." - Me.
My favorite is you don’t have to like your cousin but you must respect them. That quote came from my dad. I like it cause it makes me realize that i don’t have to like certain people or agree but I must always respect them.
