It's just occurred to me that I never called it anything
I grew up calling them the "heels" of the loaf.
But, something has come up in the last few years becoming my mother's caregiver that relates to this question. So, with the asker's permission, I would like to expand on the question.I believe the correct term is "heel."
The "heels" of the loaf.I gave them two names:
- first slice
- last slice
On 'real' bread I love them right out of the oven. The end-pieces.
When the bread is right off the oven or bread-machine, HELL YES!!! I love them! Who wouldn't love bread crunchy in the outside, while soft & fluffy in the inside?Heel. Don't take them out keeps the rest of the loaf from drying out.. Don't eat the or the one next to it from either end. Will use the heel for a hot dog if I don't have a bun does well for that
I call them the heels, and they're my favorite! They make the best, crunchiest toast!
Me and my family always call them the skins. The skins are stiff and dry, but we always try not to waste food and finish them all. Spreading more peanut butter/Nutella/margarine on the skins helps me to finish them.
the end of the break lmao
The crust. All of these people are calling them the ‘butt’ or ‘heel’. I’ve never even heard of that before but that’s probably because they’re American?
The crusts... my mum prefers them to the rest of the loaf
The heel of the loaf of bread is what you're referring to.
-disposable
-crust
-duck food
-shoe end
Take your pick though I think the last one is closest to the right answer. The "heels". And yes, I like them. They're more stable, structurally, and so I can pile on the fixings, which are the whole purpose of a sandwitch! :)
Crusts. Really good if it’s fresh otherwise it’s Gross
though baguettes are basically all crustNo idea. I don't really name them. I just eat them.
the butt lol that's what me and my siblings always called it
I call them the slices of bread nobody in the house wants so it gets left behind until it's the only slices left
That’s the part I give to the birds so I guess I could:call it “ bird feed,” lol
