Hasn’t been too bad here so far. I was cursing it a couple days ago when our plow guy didn’t show up because it was only an inch or so, but our driveway ends in a steep incline that dumps out into a blind curve where no one pays attention to the speed limit, so any snow at all and you might slide to your death, lmao. We even had a couple plow guys bail in the past because it’s too dangerous. So you really need the guy to show up every time, otherwise I have to shovel by hand, and our driveway is a good 40-50 yards long, I’d say, so it’s a lot of ground to cover with a shovel. So that’s when I’m like “FUCK winter”, lmao. But I’ve been able to play pond hockey a few times this week, so that’s a check in the “pros” column. A good skate’ll warm you right up, I started out bundled up yesterday, ended up in just a hoodie, and it was like 15 degrees plus 20+ mph wind gusts. Some guys came to talk to me though and I could barely talk because my jaw was frozen lmfao. That’s when the Jason Voorhies print ski mask came out, haha, people are always thrown off by that thing.

The only time it rains at our house is late fall, winter and early spring. We rarely get deluged. That's when we get beautiful clouds and sunsets, too. It's hot and dry for months during the summer and we always look forward to finally getting some rain in the fall.
It gets chilly here during the winter - average mid-50s during the day and low 40s to mid-30s at night. Occasionally, some nights get below 30 but not for long, and it doesn't freeze. We are below the snow line, so that's not a problem.
Given all that, my favorite season is spring because everything is fresh and green. I love it when we get light rain at night and a couple times a week during the day. It's a blessing. Fall is similar. And I much prefer winter to hot, dry summer. The season I don't look forward to is summer.

The lady I married grew up in Cincinnati. She moved to California in her 20s because she wanted to get away from the weather. She never wanted to live in a place that snowed ever again. I grew up in Southern California and that's where I met her. I was a beach kinda guy.
After we married, we moved to Northern California so we cold buy a house with a little bit of land. We settled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in a beautiful rural area. We're on a west facing hillside with an incredible 180 degree view that makes it seem like we are high up. In actuality, outrhouse is at 600 feet. The snow in the mountains up the road rarely gets below 2000 feet. It's gotten down to 1500 feet only a couple times since we moved here in 2002. We actually have a small, healthy citrus orchard on our property. The only trade off is, we have to water a lot during the summer.
Funny enough its not even cold here in Houston right now. Went outside to workout today and it was cloudy, but the weather was like 70 something. Texas weather pretty much can't make up its mind. Loll but luckily I don't have to get exhausted from shoveling!

I'm always tired of winter :D. I'm tired of winter before it even starts. But this one was actually one of the better ones, some entertaining stuff happened. We got like 30 cm of snow in 24 hours. This hasn't happened in Switzerland in 15 years. When I was a kid every year there was at least one big snow fall but then it just stopped. I was happy for the kids and it made me nostalgic too, it looked beautiful. But I'd take summer year round without hesitation, I'd come back here every ten years to see snow again but that would be enough for me.

I've got the blower all ready to go , aimed straight out the garage door, assuming I can even open it by morning. Church sent out an email - early service is cancelled. I guess they are hoping that the plow service can open up the parking lot before second service (but I wouldn't bet the farm on it). I did my food deliveries, grilled up 3# of chicken breasts, (finished just as the mini-sleet started falling), and will cut up a ham yet tonight so we'll have at least 6-10 days of meat ready. Now - What did I forget?

Spent 1:10 shoveling, got to church, came back, and shoveled another 40 min. The plow came by while I was shoveling and nearly undid my 40 min. I stood there a few minutes and they drove pass, thankfully. Did realize you were a fellow Midwesterner. At least Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin have it easier than the Northern portions of the Midwest. They tend to have more Snow and are 10oF colder on top of that. Winter Weather doesn't end there until mid April sometimes early May.
Yeah I'm in Wisconsin.. and I got out there at 8 and again at 10, plow hasn't came through yet, but when it does it gonna put all that shit right back at end of my driveway, I shoveled half the damn street hoping when they plow that'll mean less they push in

I just got back in Indiana from an 11-hour trek from North Carolina in a Car with no Heating systems (minus a heated seat) and my Lower torso was numb with the cold. I spend lots of time under the showerhead, I often heat up on a sunny rock whenever available... I think I'm half reptile.

But I can still go out with a hoodie or a vest and it's warm enough. Only freezing at night.

Until last year I had the option of leaving home and going to college just because winters were not harsh in the city where my college was.
But this year I experienced it and it was awful. January has ended but the winter’s still here. I wish it ends very soon.

I'm acclimated to warm tropical weather since I lived in the Philippines for 19 years. However, I was born and raised here in the USA. I'm not complaining about winter but I'd welcome spring early, followed by summer soon.

Normally I'm against snow. We didn't get much last year and have only had two incidences of it so far, each one only about 1.5 inches (Missouri). Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind getting a 6 to 10 incher before April. (No pun intended)😄

Oh wow. We had a similar snow storm 3 weeks ago. It started late Saturday night and didn't stop until Sunday evening. So far we've only had 2 snow storms. I live in the panhandle of Texas, so we usually only get about one or 2 snow storms a year that don't give us more than 3-6 inches (with the exception of a blizzard that hit us in December of 2015).
