I think it has always been there I've just lacked the self awareness and experience to know how to navigate my difficulties but the more I learn the more productive I've become. I feel like having the consistent will to do something is the most important thing. It doesn't really matter what your goal is and it doesn't matter if you do nothing for a long time because you're just not up to it but what matters is that you never give up and once you've rested enough or thought enough about some mental stuff you're going through, you try again. That's pretty much been my approach in life and it has worked even if it took a lot of time.
If the things I don't wanna do become too much though I put an end to it. I don't know everything about myself yet but I do know I'm living at my own pace and I will vehemently oppose anyone who wants to push harder by saying "we all have to do things we don't want to" "work is work" etc. They think they're telling me something I don't know but they just want me off their plate, they wanna step on me so I'll fit in with the other productive citizens even though I don't fit in the hole they're pushing me into.
You have to be willing to make everyone unhappy with you to get the space you need. I already push myself enough I don't need someone who doesn't know shit about me to help.
👍👍 you seem to be in a good path to finding what's best for you in life👍
I'll be honest, that would be my wife. Much like I do the same with her. It's very very easy to pursue simply what we're interested in as opposed to the difficult things like getting a homestead exemption, registering for school to open up more possibilities.
Week after week, year after year making sure the trash gets to the curb on time. Talking to people if you're an introvert, learning empathy if it's something you don't naturally possess much of. Communicating in a relationship.
There are so many beneficial things that just plain suck sometimes. I know both of us have become reliant on each other to drag each other kicking and screaming through that. It isn't the best way to handle it, but it works for us.
Hey that's what I think a marriage is all about!!👍👍
Well, I don't exactly agree with this, but in the words of musician John Mayer, "I do something so that I did not do nothing." i. e. You create for the sake of creating. Then later, you judge.
I do the easier things, or the crappy things on a to-do list, in order of ease, so that eventually I have nothing left but to do the really shitty things. That's one way I get things done.
And basically not being a passive whiner who sits there inert. That's no good. I often force myself into action by not wanting to be that.
Whatever works right👍😊
Meh, people bs about resilience and shit but I like being lazy. I know my limits though and I know when things need to be done so I have no idea what motivates me but I just do it? Maybe fear of failing or getting in trouble? I like to think I’m just organised and mature but I dunno

The potential payoff. Like when I was 26 and got offered a corporate job even though I wasn't qualified. I had to cut my hair and start wearing a suit. My entire lifestyle changed.
Or sometimes just because it's right thing to do. Like when I got talked into joining the board of a local environmental nonprofit start up. I was soon nominated to be Board President. Part of my task was to stand up in front of hundreds of people to pitch the organization and solicit support. At first I was terrified, but I got used to it.
👍👍🙂
Achieving! It's a way to break a habit that is negative and replace it with a positive new habit, as things you have to quit and things you have to learn/do to achieve to be better. I seek to fail and acheive which makes me become more eager to learn and do more, new things, to challenge mu self to be more for my own. All that leads to active life style to stay healthy, happy and curious, i don not have a comfort zone anymore, i do have my home but i can't just keep doing the same thing over and over again and feel comfortable, break the comfort zone and learn new things
Well said!!
Well, 25 years ago, it was a desire to get out of the path of an enemy soldier's firing resolution, and during Airborne training, it was a Drill Instructor's 🥾 in my rear when questioning the wisdom of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, and the following 20 something years the desire too aquire enough money to retire. Now I volunteer my time, full time, to animal and human animal rescue efforts, harrass corrupt politicians, people too stupid to be wearing the badge they wear, and loiter on this website to kill time and fill my days, as an alternative to using the business end of one of those tools of War, on myself.
Don't do that🙏🏼
No problemo👍. There are to many government lacky functionaries and dirty or idiot cops to pester. Besides, I'm just getting local P. D. to be sharpshooter qualified on the M16. I actually like these guys and gals, unlike their unworthy counterparts in Clark County, N. V.
I have no kin or anybody for that matter so I must continuely say only you can do this,& my daughter gives me great encouragement ✌️

That just shows your true strength! 🙏🏻
Ty same with you you're an incredibly strong woman & it shows 🕊️
I used to be... I let life and things beat me down.. But alas I'm human🤷🏼♀️
Amen so true ty ✌️
If you schedule a specific day, start time and stop time, you're more likely to accomplish the task. Open-ended projects drag on forever and feel overwhelming. Rather than say "I'm going to clean the house tomorrow," say "I'm going to clean this 2'X2' section of the kitchen from 10:15 - 10:35am. You'll be more impressed with the results if you stick to a specific time and have manageable expectations, and that will help you learn what you can realistically expect of yourself for future plans.
How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time... never bite off more than you can chew. If it's overwhelming, break it down into smaller parts. Make sure you have the needed knowledge and tools and supplies before you start. You can learn how to do most anything by watching YouTube videos or going to forums which focus on whatever trade might have the knowledge.
In my case it's usually the 20 things that follow. And of course the one thing that I get to do for me it never seems to happen because I only got 19 things done and by the time next week happens I got another 30 things to do, just 2 do one thing that I want to do for me but of course something always happens so I guess I'll do it next week LOL
Try to make time for yourself, what if next week never comes🤔
No problem
Motivation comes through actions. Rome wasn't build in a day. If you have your goal in mind, you must keep working daily on your interest and become better at it. Even if that improvement is 1%. Daily improvement may seem far fetched but it is effective in the long run
👍👍
When I am single it is my goals. If I can see how the task leads to a goal I've set then I get it done. I just have to see that it is not a waste of energy.
When in a serious relationship, my motivation to push is her happiness and well being. When I am in love, I give EVERYTHING to her and trust her completely. I trust her to take care of me while I take care of her.
Nice answer👍
Just mentally viewing it as simply a block of time.
When I went for my eye surgery, for example.
The whole procedure from check-in to getting wheeled out was to be 2 to 2.25 hours. The docs have done hundreds of these surgeries (cataract with a new lens).
I just have to "focus out" about 3 hours to when I would be home and resting. I can sit at home, NOT get operated on, accomplish not all that much, and still be half blind. Or, I can spend that same amount of time, get chauffeured around, get a bowl of luscious lime gelatin when it's over, and get to go home, rest AND be able to SEE in those same 3 hours or so.
I visualise the moment its done, how satisfying and good it feels. I also visualise the steps and the process of doing the task and that motivates me in getting it done promptly. By visualise I mean I picture and really feel, like a day dream.
Sounds like good motivation
I don't know i just have this strong will in me, like determination. I always bully myself n in a way its very bad. Sometimes only scaring myself would motivate me which also isn't heqlthy
True it might not be so healthy but I've done that myself before
The following thought: "Hey, you're enjoying a wonderful today aren't you? You know what would make this day even better? Enjoying it with a clear conscience."
That's good!!
Knowing once I get it done I won't ever have that thing to do again and rewarding myself after I get it done.
👍👍
Oh good question, at the moment, life changes and time.
Thanks! And yeah life is ever changing and not always for the better but we gotta push through somehow
Absolutely stay positive and keep moving forward, just know everything will work itself out, never give up, you are ok and doing great. 🙏🏽🌷🌅
The routine that grounds me and keeps me going and helps attain things.
Sounds good👍
Just remind myself that if I dont do it no else does.
👍👍 that's true
The knowledge that I HAVE to do it is usually all it takes me to get it done, I’ve never really understood why people procrastinate. You gotta do it, why not just do it NOW?
👍👍👍
I think if any one person can do something then I can do it and if I ever ran into something that no one's done it's my pride and hard headedness that would pull me through.
Suborn pride can definitely be a motivator if kept to a healthy balance👍👍🙂
The sense that it has to be done, and that I don't like having things hanging around that need to be done.
👍👍👍
The hope that there is something better waiting at the end of it or that something good will happen as a result of pushing through it
👍👍
Knowing that if I dont do it, address it, fix it, or otherwise engage with it, it will likely get worse and become more of a mess.
Simply, in the rare times I get in a funk or my PTSD kicks my tail, I know I still have to get up and walk my dog or else there will be something worse to address later.
Well, if I don’t do it, it isn’t going to get done.
That's true!
@Brainsbeforebeauty yep, especially when it comes to laundry...
The will and drive to complete task. Because if you don't push yourself, you have no drive to be successful
👍👍
This is what keeps me doing the things that i sometimes sat no to.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/st3hcemb12I👍👍🙂
If someone else is depending on me then that'll be a big push.
They definitely is a big motivator
Yeah, but it's still a challenge to stop procrastinating.
I never was a procrastinator.. But lately I am
I have learned how to channel my anger to push myself. It is some leftover part of our evolution.
Whatever works, right!
I could never run good.. But just got back from walking at the track with a neighbor
My mom, my kids and the need and desire to not have to rely on anyone else to make me happy
All good motivators 👍👍🙂
No problem.. You sound like you have a very good head on your shoulders. Now if you could teach that to some people twice your age😂
Thanks💛💛 And you'll go far in life with that attitude👍🙏🏼
That's awesome! Congratulations🥳🥳 Much luck to your success🙏🏼
Usually necessity, sometimes a sense of obligation. I try not to make it a habit. :)
👍👍I gotta push myself to go walk the track this morning cuz really need to... And it's not even don't want to it's that I been up since 2 and my one leg swollen above the knee, but I'mma still try🤷🏼♀️
Usually my family. When it comes to sports, my hunger for winning, and hatefulness of losing.
👍👍
My daughters. What kind of positive influence would I be if I didn't want to do things I had to do?
Children are definitely a motivator
Well, normally if the alternative of not doing anything is going to have disastrous consequences, I keep reminding myself of that as I push through!
That can definitely be a motivator
If I don't want to do something then I will not do it. Simple.
There is no push required here.
Just getting them done and out of the way.
Simples...
👍👍
"others" give me the push. Ones who depends on me doing it.
👍👍
if jt is a must do, that i dread, i do it to get it over
👍👍
I think when I know it could hinder my health then I know it needs to be done
for example, I need to lose weight I've managed to keep 100 lbs off but I want
reach a goal of at least 50 -80 lbs then I would be happy
The fact that once done I can go back to my comfort zone. I'll have to slip out of it to do the thing sooner or later, so sooner is always better than later.
Financial crisis
Don't won't to work but I have to work lol
Right!!
Because putting it off longer will just make it worse. I'd rather just do it as quick as possible and get it out out the way. Like ripping off a big band aid.
My dad always said " why put off till tomorrow when you can do it today". I do the things I really don't want to do first to get them done and out of the way.
The fact that I can do it pushes me.
That's good!
If I don't do it, than it won't get done
👍👍
The threat of dire things if I don't do them
That can definitely be a motivator
My best friend in life.
Friends can definitely help motivate
Just the things I can do after I've done it.
👍👍🙂
My kids, mostly. I think of them. Also, my SO, when I have one.
Fear of fines and jail time.
Need dedication and passion.
That's good
As always dear.
👍👍
Willpower
👍👍I waver with that sometimes
I know what you mean
Thinking... still thinking...
Survival instinct.
That's good👍
My girlfriend id say
That's a good motivator
