Fortunately that scumbag's plan failed. The dog survived and is living with people that love him. What should be the punishment if someone does that but the animal survives?

Although it breaks my heart to see another animal or living creature suffer and detest such behavior i cannot but help but feel that we as a society and as human beings need to do better at taking care of our misguided brothers and sisters. I would never want to hurt or kill another human being or animal as some sort of "justice" or vengeance for the crimes but instead give them the mental health help they need. Thousands of us die everyday from starvation and lack of water and lack of medical care and not a single goddam one of us bats an eye! Living in this sort of world is it no wonder that a few of our brothers and sisters act this way? Thats the most heartbreaking thing about this situation...

What you have to understand is in many European countries dogs are just animals. Tools. They are not pets. They do not go into the house. They certainly do not go on the furniture. And stray dogs are considered vermin. In America you've no issue poisoning rats.

We have dozens of 'wild' dogs around here. Some carry diseases, and some also are aggressive towards humans.
To poison them would be cruel indeed. But to reduce their number is justifiable in specific cases.
My suggestion: punishment could be imprisonment in an animal shelter for a few days; to see how it is like.

yeah there is no hope for them. The scary part is once they harm or kill animals for no reason, it's only a matter of time when they will hurt a person. They are too far gone and it's useless keeping them in society.

I'm not the best person to answer this question. I was raised with the concept that animals are just there. Testing things like medications, cosmetics, etc on animals is better than testing them on humans. An animal is replaceable, but a human is not.

I had to control myself from crying after seeing the video, esp with the dog shaking badly. I had to pause a couple times to not get too emotional. It was one of the most depressing and disturbing things to watch.

Yeah those are horrible people. Like that poor dog, I just heard a poodle survived an attempt poisoning, just last week. The disturbing and shocking part is the culprit wasn't an adult, not even a teen but a 9 year-old boy.
Not sure what punishment should apply there if a young kid does that.
