Are LGBT pride parades going too far?

I feel all this ''Oh yessss, yesss I'm proud to be gay, hey people I'm a proud gay'' parades is going too far. It makes me want to say out loud ''So what, it's not like you invented a cure for cancer or are helping starving children in the world, your sexual orientation doesn't make you special''.

You don't see me screaming to everyone on the streets ''Hey people, I'm proud to be a straight woman, yessss, I'm straight''. Then if you point out their exaggerated pride (really what exactly is to be proud of having a sexual orientation?), you're accused of being a homophobic.

In my view, you're not special for being gay, straight or whatever your sexual orientation is. That's not a unique trait nor achievement, that's just your state of liking the same gender, opposite gender or whatever.
