I feel all this ''Oh yessss, yesss I'm proud to be gay, hey people I'm a proud gay'' parades is going too far. It makes me want to say out loud ''So what, it's not like you invented a cure for cancer or are helping starving children in the world, your sexual orientation doesn't make you special''.

You don't see me screaming to everyone on the streets ''Hey people, I'm proud to be a straight woman, yessss, I'm straight''. Then if you point out their exaggerated pride (really what exactly is to be proud of having a sexual orientation?), you're accused of being a homophobic.

It’s not so much about having exaggerated pride in their sexuality, it’s about going to society, look we exist irrespective of what society says, about how much you are against us.

If there was a heterosexual day and people went on the Heterosexual march wearing heterosexual badge and showing the heterosexual flag. They could comfortably finish the march, walk back through town, get the subway, public transport, go to pub etc still wearing their heterosexual badge and flag showing.

The big difference, you have a young lad, goes to Pride with his friends, he has to walk home, get public transport, chances are he’s going to do a safety check, badge removed, flag not showing etc. As unlike with the Heterosexual March, he faces getting beaten up for his sexuality.

Yes I fully agree you are not special for your sexuality, so can society stop violence and discrimination against people for their sexuality?

Can it be the case that a child can come out to their parents as bisexual, gay, lesbian without the fear of being kicked out of the home, being abused mentally and or physically by their parents and siblings, or worse murdered by their own parent (s)?

I wonder if straight kids have the same issues when they tell their parents, friends etc about how they are straight.

In some countries it is an achievement of reaching say 25 years old and being openly gay. The achievement is not being executed or murdered, yeah you might be in prison.

Going too far? We get a month a year to really just say "hey we exist and we won't be ignored, we won't be marginalized, and we will not be treated as second class citizens anymore.

If you don't like the parades... don't go?

I mean think of it this way, every year we have the Thanksgiving day parade and Christmas parades, right? Just people there to have fun and spend time together in a shared interest. Are you up in arms about this being a thing for all those across the country who don't celebrate Christmas or believe in Jesus/Christian based religions?

If not, then let us have our parade. We aren't asking you to be part of it, just acknowledge that there are those of us out there who do celebrate our sexuality, that want to give others who are afraid to come out a safe place to do so, and frankly just have fun with others who have a shared life experience.

This world has enough hate, try to pick your battles for something more worthy of being targeted.

I don't think it's going too far. Being gay openly is still not something that is completely accepted in most parts of the world. Many older gays lived through times when direct discrimination and abuse were totally tolerated and encouraged. PRIDE is about self acceptance and remembering that the right to even self-accept was hard-won.

For the majority of us who aren't prejudiced and are 100% fine with gay people existing, it can be kinda obvious and annoying for sure. Like "Ok guys, I get that you exist and we should all accept ourselves, bla bla bla", so stop clogging up traffic.

But I think it's still very necessary and will continue to be necessary until the rest of the religious and ignorant societies of the world get over it. It's like black history month. Society definitely needed it for the last 60 years. Now that black people are pretty much accepted and equal worldwide and it's not a big deal, and history is taught fairly and includes the contributions of black people, it's gonna start turning into a meme like "what about white history month?". It's kinda dumb.

We aren't nearly as close with gays though, so we are gonna have to keep hammering that nail until it's in for good, since the world is slow to change sometimes.

Gay people are hilarious and super extra at pride parades. If you have a problem with them, maybe you have to get a life and stop being such a prude 😉

Look, I think having a pride parade is warranted in light of the fact that many are still in recovery from decades of persecution. Just like we have multicultural festivals, I think having a dedicated time to celebrate diversity of any kind is beautiful.

HOWEVER, I'm not keen on the exaggerated LGBT pride which is seeping into the general community. Like, I've seen cop cars are now being decorated with the rainbow flag. It's a little ridiculous in my opinion, and really allows people to act out in the most absurd and obscene manners. Despite scientific evidence supporting the fact that being LGBT is natural, you still have people relating LGBT people to animals, and calling them degenerate for existing. 50 years ago being LGBT was a crime in all 50 states and Canada. In the last decade a Kansas law, which made two men holding hands a felony, was repealed, and not by the choice of the politicians. People in the LGBT community still suffer discrimination, and violence for their existence.

I hear some messed up stuff coming from pride events. Like parents letting people kiss their same-sex kids on the lips, for some reason apparently they’re revered creatures bestowing some sexual blessing on kids. Yes. It supposed to be a family friendly parade. HOWEVER, it became a parade which now has people with fetishes or bdsm fans although it has nothing to do with lbgt.
