Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yNo I don’t. This community says they want to be left alone, let to live their lives, to be accepted by everyone but yet they bring all this “unwanted” attention on theirselves. But I thought they just wanted to live their lives? I’d love to see S&M personnel out there throwing a parade, see how fast that gets shut down.

+1 yThere's a fundamental question that need to be answered, when considering the value of Pride Parades--purely as a sociopolitical phenomenon. I'm not going to address the corporate element, that's a whole other can of worms.
Is being gay as valid as being straight--is being queer inherently good--or does it need to be evaluated on an ongoing basis like a corporate financial report, in order to see if it still makes sense?
On the one hand, the entire point of the Pride Parade is to continue demonstrating that queer people exist, their sexuality is persistent and "not a phase" like a fashion trend. More to the point, Pride is--in some sense--a way to convey that the gay or trans lifestyle is no different than the "heteronormative" one. After all, they are putting on a show in public; it's a "Parade", not a convention. The fact that its participants consist entirely of adults (which is good, because lately, it's become rather flamboyant and increasingly ostentious with its displays of sexuality) is a marked exhibition of durability: being gay is something you are, not something you do and you don't grow out if it.On the other hand, Pride Parades, being as loud and in-your-face as they are, are almost a slap in the face to conventional attempts at propriety and decorum--something Pride seems to lack, almost on purpose, in an attempt to "get revenge" on the straights for having the audacity to feel disgusted by queer people for just being themselves. There's a tension going on, between the onlookers and the crew members, where Pride is being used as a social bludgeon against normal, typically conservative people, to make them passively atone for being complicit in historical injustices, on account of punishing queer people, due to their natural sexual inclinations flying in the face of natural order. However, the fact remains that the LGBTQ community lives an uncomfortable reality, where they hate straight people because of their abnormal nature, but also because heterosexuality is required for queer people to exist. Two woman and two men cannot make a baby, but a lesbian and gay man can, but at that point, we've come full circle to "heteronormativity" being the natural cause of childbirth and that's a fact that the LGBTQ community has to reconcile.
Additionally, if at some point in the future, predictive birthing models and gene editing become good enough, queerness may cease to exist. After all, if gay people are "born that way", but one can simply make them not that way by "designing" them to be straight in the womb, then being gay would be something done on purpose rather than being a sociolobiological anomaly. That alone invites a whole host of questions humanity is simply not prepared to face, but given advancements in AI and improvements in general human wellness, these questions will need to be answered--one way or another.

+1 yYou should of made it a poll.
It’s one thing if these parades are were people march appropriate dressed while behaving appropriately. However is a huge difference between “tolerance and acceptance” vs “celebrating and being special”. I think the alphabet people are much more about the latter nowadays.
With that said I am libertarian and this is America. I believe legal adults can make their own choices. So if you want to have a parade suit yourself. But don’t judge me if I decline to attend.
However the alphabet people have gotten much more aggressive with their ideology in the last few years. It’s no longer “you stay my lane and I will stay yours.” I more often hear reports of the following:
- Indecent exposure at pride parades in front of children
- Attendees having sex in public at these events.
While I don’t think most people do that gross and sick behavior at these events the ones that do try often “get a pass” and an excuse to do this bs just because they belong to this group of people. That’s what I hate and can’t stand.

Commenting purely on "However the alphabet people have gotten much more aggressive with their ideology in the last few years" part:
It seems to me that this is merely the cause of people fighting back against it, which then causes a continuous loop. Members of the human population want to bring queerness in to the conversation just to acknowledge that they exist and that they are welcome. Others completely reject the idea and fight make a fuss about it. That causes the queer community to retaliate a bit louder; they want to be heard and accepted. And so on. Quite annoying really - +1 y
@Sirenboobzilla “ Members of the human population want to bring queerness in to the conversation just to acknowledge that they exist and that they are welcome.”
Oh really? So this why California just passed a law that if a parent objects to having their kid undergo gender assignment surgery they could lose child custody? This is why Biden said “they are OUR kids”? You know the Soviet Union used to say the exact same thing. Also is this why corporations are starting force employees to use gender pronouns so they can figure who is woke and who isn’t?
No. I do NOT agree that they are bringing “queerness into the conversation to show they exist”. No. There is merit in being intersectional. It gives them special special privileges not discrimination.
Also if someone disagrees with them even silently they can’t even have that. No this is NOT about “equality”. It’s a Marxist strategy. - +1 y

+1 yI support people being gay, queen, queens, and trans. What I DON'T support is it being forced onto to little kids, and constantly shoved down the throats of the general populace every fucking day in every way!! You do you and leave the rest of us the fuck out of it, especially those that want nothing to do with it!! Likewise, I support feminism but NOT to the degree of militancy!! There's a really cool book that I bought and read back in the late `80's, I think. It's called, "Cunt". It's a funny and mostly intelligent book but, when you get to the last chapter, it becomes pretty militant!! That's where I stop agreeing with it!
Why does EVERYTHING these days HAVE to be a fucking battle? As I said, you do you, I'll do me and, as long as neither of us is shoving down each others throats, we SHOULD be able to get on together quite nicely!!33 Reply- +1 y

+1 yBeen exposed to them my whole life in New York. They're not what conservative media makes it out to be. If you don't want your kids exposed to the parade, perhaps don't take them to it. That said, gay kids exist. There's no way around it. Never has been.
41 Reply Pride parades are fine. No one's forcing anyone to go attend. Swear people today spew the same bullshit phrases "don't need it shoved down my throat" and blah blah. No one's forcing shit. Burger King commercials are everywhere, no one forces you to eat their when you pass one.
If people could take all that energy and direct it at pedophiles and molesters that'd be great00 Reply- 1.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yThey are an abomination. I’m against homosexuality from the start, but half of these parades constitute public lewdness so far as I’m concerned and I’d feel the same way if they were heterosexual parades with the same antics I’ve seen in the homosexual ones.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThe alphabet people have the right to parade but I disagree with the occasional raunchy displays during such marches.
I would never attend such a parade. I know people who are homosexual, I am respectful of them, and I never openly condemn or criticize them. If they don't ask my opinion, I don't express it. But I do believe that engaging in homosexual acts is a sin, and it is aberrant behavior.
00 ReplyI am totally against it, the option which should not be an ideological or political flag and simply a sexual option, the aberrations are psychological dystopias. A man is a man, a woman is a woman.

+1 yIt's their right and they won their right to celebrate. But however the main reason why they orchestrated these events because they want the public to know that they're human to.
Like the World wasn't never always populated with just heterosexuals. Even though am myself a heterosexuals. Homosexuals and transgenders have been around for a very long time. They been such way since they were at an early age.
Only finally theirs voices can be heard through these events.00 ReplyThis day and age no. If cities want to allow it then go ahead but it's not something I'd support or take my kids to. I know they say it's about acceptance and stuff but I have no idea how they could be more accepted anymore. We all know they exist and 99% of people don't think twice about them which is the exact way everyone else gets treated

+1 yYeah.
And that you think it's something to disagree about is exactly why Pride is a protest and it needs to continue.
Why are you a homophobe?22 Reply- +1 y
Yep. Another Harvard grad here that doesn’t think you can disagree with lifestyle choices without hating someone.
Do you like my car? No. Then you hate it. Do you like bowling? No? It’s because you’re bigoted against bowlers. Do you support Rodeo? No? It’s because you hate cowboys.
This is literally the stupidest and most intellectually dishonest political argument I have ever seen.
Muslims are against homosexuality. Are you against them having that view? Yeah. Then guess what? You’re an Islamophobe.

What part of disagreeing with someone’s lifestyle constitutes it must be associated with narrow mindedness and bigotry?
Lots of people advocate for a healthy lifestyle. Doesn’t mean they hate fat people now does it?
So…. crazy thing. We can all disagree and have our own views without it always being based on hate.
No that’s right we can’t. Either you love gay people and want to blow them all, or you want their bodies stacked like logs. No in between. Can’t have a different view if it doesn’t fit the manual. You must love them or you hate them. That miss is called gaslighting.
Muslims don’t approve of homosexuality. I don’t see anyone attacking that community on those grounds. Neither to Jews. I know it’s just those evil Christians with loving their neighbors as themselves and such. If we could just kill all those Jesus freaks there would be no more intolerance.
Tolerance is only for deviant sexual orientations right? Not followers of another religion. No tolerance for their view, only the gays views.

So I guess I’m gonna have to be the one to leave a big turd floating in this pool.
Your message to: “homophones is that we aren’t going away.”
Do you realize that most anti homosexuals could seriously care less what you do with your bodies? However since it’s insisted on shoving this down everyone’s throat you’re only going to create hatred and contempt for your community. Like no one cares that there are gay people. Just like there always have been. However you guys are not gonna win anyone over with the “we’re not going away, and if you don’t like us it’s cause you’re a homophobe and intolerant approach.”
I would assume you don’t like fly fishing. What would you think if suddenly fly fishing replaced all sports except for like…I dunno…. Cricket or something. What if fly fishing and the discussion of periphery topics was on the news 24/7, in every movie, in every video game, in every song, in every sitcom and we had a national holiday for it and had parades for it….. constantly…..
I would imagine you and everyone else would be pretty sick of hearing about fly fishing and it being center stage. Constantly. Now imagine if it was like that for fly fishing, however fly fishing were a social taboo that opinion is sharply divided on, and that it was illegal or frowned upon for most of our countries history. Do you think the fly fishing crowd is going to win fans by continuing to ram this down people’s throats when there is significant feedback that everyone is sick of it? It’s easy enough to change the channel on the TV. What isn’t easy is having to find a detour around the parades and protests
That’s why this isn’t about acceptance or tolerance. Youse have and had that already. It’s about acceptance. It’s about demanding approval. I approve of me, so I don’t care if you do. Why can this just not be the same approach the gay community takes. Youse guys can keep on with it, or just realize that largely no one cares so long as we don’t have to hear about it 24/7/365.
