Why are some pride parades ok but not others?

Pride is either ok or not ok for ALL groups, if equality is actually the goal. Which is it?

The point of “pride” parades are not to just generically show pride in oneself. Rather, they’re meant to bolster pride for people who have been made to feel ashamed of who they are by society. The mood isn’t rooted in “we’re awesome! Get a load of us!”, it’s “don’t let anybody tell you that who you are isn’t ok.” It’s sort of an unspoken requirement that you need to have faced broad, longstanding discrimination and hardship. That’s why most of these things you see are like the LGBTQ folks, the Irish effectively do it via St. Paddy’s Day Parades, etc. It’d just be in poor taste to do “White Pride”, “Straight Pride”, because they don’t need the support, and often they’re the ones guilty of doing the persecuting of other groups. It’s just super to be white or straight or whatever, but I’m both of those things and I don’t need any support to feel comfortable in my own skin or pay homage to some particular hardship people before me faced. Just kind of a “read the room” situation. It’d be like a day celebrating Liechtenstein or Djibouti, and America or China roll up like “whoa, whoa, what about US? Don’t forget about us!” Maybe a day will come where society is in a place where we can all have friendly pride events for ourselves without making it competitive or a tit-for-tat to try to take attention away from some other group you don’t want to see celebrated, but I just don’t think we’re there right now, shit is way too tense and people still act way towards poorly towards one another.

Which parade is not ok? I would say as long as your parade isn't racists or sexists or specifically puts someone else down it is ok.

Depends on the reason behind the pride parade.

If it's a historically left wing group or cause it's fine if it's not no? That seems to be the way it goes. Racial and sexual minorities can have all the pride they want, but the instant the racial or sexual majority wants a pride event it is at best difficult and unlikely to happen. For example, in my city the police overtime for the annual Puerto Rican pride festival is a respectable portion of that month's budget, trying to slow down all the arson and stabbings and property destruction. But it's a foregone conclusion that it will be coming next year, because public safety doesn't matter if the police or the mayor can have weaponized -ism accusations made against their careers. Multiple cars will be flipped and set on fire, there have been deaths, and the fire barrels and other garbage just left in the middle of the streets are hazards for drivers trying to get to work the next day. Despite all these public safety concerns, only white pride festivals get shut down over public safety issues here. There hasn't been an Italian pride festival in the area for years because one person got stabbed once. You can see why a reasonable person would be upset at the discriminatory treatment. Either everyone's pride is ok in the interest of fairness or nobody's pride is ok, it is hypocritical and legally inconsistent otherwise. As long as free speech and the right to assemble apply to one group they should apply to all equally. That is what I'm upset about, exceptions being made to 'equal protection' under the law.

It's pretty fucked up when they're doing things that are not allowed to be seen on television without it being blurred out, and it seems to be a priority of doing it in front of or with kids is their thing.

Let us be real though... that movement got hijacked by weird sex-fetish people and 9 times out of 10 it has nothing to do with equality. They just want to act like sex freaks in public.

This movement is going to take it too far just like the pro-abortion stuff. Most of the people that were all pro-choice after the supreme court weighed in didn't even realize that stuff got looked at because they started pushing for abortion after the kid is already born and stuff like that. And we're seeing it get pushed too far with the whole trying to make it normal or acceptable to have a sexy time with kids. What do they call it... MAP's (Minor Attracted Persons)? Yeah... um... there's even a point where the average TDS suffering loony troon is going start saying WTF? themselves.

I think that's the biggest problem with the current left... they don't know when to just stop. Take the win and go home already. Stop trying to escalate into the realm of absurdity.

Because it's not about pride- once, maybe, back when being homosexual was social, and quite possibly physical, suicide, but not anymore- it's about lust. In and of itself, that's fine; remember that the deadly sins aren't called that because of their badness, but because of their insidiousness. The duplicity is a different matter, of course- if you're in Iran, then sure, it's pride. In the US? That's just an excuse to glorify your wanton ogling of shirtless hunky dudes.\

For the record, we DO have a "straight pride day", for men at least, here in the States; we just call it Halloween.
