Why, does she leave her gum on her bedpost every night or in the same glass as her dentures? My chewing gum loses it's flavor within 5 minutes so it never even makes it to the bedpost. Besides, there is no room with the handcuffs and ropes taking up all the space.

  The song was actually written in the late 1920s, and one interpretation of its lyrics is that people would save their gum during the Depression, with the happy tune indicating that it's okay to do that... things will get better. The song actually made it to #5 on the popular charts in 1961.

  Back during WWII with rationing if you had gum you chewed it for as long as you could and even shared your chewed gum with others to chew. Sounds gross doesn't it?
