What are some general, common clues someone is lying over text message/email/online?

Like if you can’t see their face but are trying to decipher if they’re lying, what are some texting giveaways? Like words commonly used or how they phrase things, etc.

The scary thing is that there is no way to tell.
Unless the person is being so outlandish, then it can be near on impossible to differentiate.

This is the Internet and even SMS text messaging is still a virtual world, one where you hide behind a phone screen and can make up a personality of your own.
It's not the same as the real world.

This is how people get groomed, scammed and manipulated over the Internet or phone.

Anything that anyone texts, says, posts or answers with on the phone or Internet could be a lie. You have no way of telling.
This is the modern age we live in now.

Younger people are finding it even harder to differentiate, because the line between the virtual and real world is blurred to them.
That's the price of growing up so dependent on modern-virtual and social technology.

1. When they want you to message them on a site/messenger that requires you to sign up with credit card information.

2. They claim to have lots of money but can't access it so they need you to send them money.

3. Their answers to questions are inconsistent over time. (They forget which lie they told.)

Well our human instincts can’t take part in technology unfortunately.
We are leery and unsure more often because of interacting with other humans via electronics, isn’t healthy!!!


However, you can’t know and you can’t dictate or decipher. It’s up to you to make the choice to trust or not -


Text it great for simple; Yeup ok sure see you then call me etc but when it needs tone and other body language things we need to make decisions, I do a good old fashioned phone call & it’s all cleared up relatively quick.

Liars always want to ensure others believe their lies. They repeat often their lies but slightly modified or in shape of a suggestion.
If you're reacting with sarcasm to their lies they are mostly upset or try to convince you have hurt them with your sarcasm.

Usually their is a big delay in their response time because they have to think about it. It not necessarily be because they're lying it's because they agreed to something they don't want to do. Like for example, I would set up a date with this girl and she was all clingy about me responding to her texts really soon, but then a day or two before the date I wouldn't hear from her or I may only get one text the whole day. She did this like 4 times which is why I picked up on the pattern.

When someone texts an opinion and immediately sends you a bunch of texts explaining themselves without you even asking. I have caught out people like this, but sometimes they have insecurities so depends on the person

They use words such as these as if trying to convince you.

The best thing that has worked for me is looking for consistency and asking myself if their actions would make sense if I was in their shoes.

You can’t. The best way would be to somehow catch them off guard mid-conversation. Then see if there’s any sudden increase in response time.
