(Also by constantly I mean multiple times in a sentence in every. Single. Sentence.

With the exception of slurs, since I can readily and easily trace the reason for offense to those, I don’t really believe in the concept of “bad words.” They seem very arbitrarily arrived-at, or the reasons are so outdated that they’re no longer relevant. Like can you tell me why “fuck” is a bad word without looking it up? It’s a very multi-faceted word, it can mean something sexual, it can be an aggressively hateful verb, or it could be synonymous with simple surprise or astonishment. Sometimes it’s almost a throwaway word in a sentence.
Or how about “shit?” That has a variety of meanings. It can just be a broad way of saying “stuff” or “things”, it can express frustration or feeling of defeat, and it can mean literal excrement. At worst, excrement is an unpleasant reality of life that most of us choose to just not talk about, but it’s a byproduct of every living animal, it’s just kinda gross. But if if i euphemise it by saying “crap” or “poop” or whatever other “friendlier” word we use, it still describes the exact same thing…so why on earth are some acceptable to say but one is outright deemed “offensive” or “uncouth” language? Like above all else, when it comes to rules, even just societal norms, I need them to make sense, and this just doesn’t.
Simply put, we should be offended by ideas and attitudes, not the particular words we use to express them. I could say something terrible that’s G-rated and simultaneously say something that comes from a place of decency, but the words I use could get it deemed “vulgar.” And that’s simply stupid, I don’t know what else to even say about it. And it’s even dumber that we get born into it, and just obediently accept it without challenge or re-examination.
Oh, forgot to say…. the only reason we identify most of these words as swears is because we were taught that they were. Like literally any of these words could have been selected as “bad”, and we just get told that we shouldn’t say them, and that we should be offended if others say it around us. Like can we see how absolutely MORONIC that is, just conceptually?
One last point, or maybe more of a hypothesis…. are these people who are truly offended or put-off by swearing just intense rule-followers? Like some people are just so conditioned (or maybe it just comes natural, I don’t understand the mentality, frankly) to take some other person’s word as better than their own, as if they can’t figure out their own proper behavior without being guided to it. I’m not trying to clown on anyone, I’m sure there’s some psychological explanation for it, but it just blows my mind that anyone could take the words of a complete stranger who has never done anything to your personal benefit and be like “this is how I HAVE TO act. That guy over there said so.”🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Well said.
I tend to not mind so long as it's not harmful (like abusive swearing) or not restrictive (like swearing at the expense of losing valuable substance).
So I'd prefer if swearing was seen as a valuable tool for emphasizing the extreme nature of things, aiding mental pain, for joking around, being causual etc.
I'm not going to lie to you. I curse in every sentence. I don't think it's "ghetto" "rude" or represents your "intelligence" NOW if you don't know when its appropriate to use it, then yeah, maybe. I can put six curse words in one introductory sentence when greeting my friends, but when I'm with my family, I'm at work etc. I could get hurt in the worst of ways and not curse. I can always control it in front of certain people and in certain settings, but others?
I just don't give a fuck about, and will shit vulgarites out of my mouth all day long, like my mouth has VULGARrhea. I'd go as far to say that i give my curse words a ✨special✨ touch. An EXAMPLE my insults: you "pussy warted muff goblin who the fuck do you think you are talking to?"
"You cum guzzling hillbilly whore"
"Twat slurpling dipshit"
"Greasy ball eater"
" Piss covered Gooch cuntlet" etc. But that doesn't mean i talk like this in every conversation, and if you happen to catch wind of it. I'm not sorry.
I laughed so hard at these! Do you ever say anything like this to people on gag?
@DarkCarousel eh.. It depends. I'm not sure if i have, but if you see it.. Yeah it may be me lol
Some people are habituated to speak like that. I'm okay with swearing like which are used like, "What the hell!" "Wtf did just happened?" or in such a way which isn't insulting anyone. I don't like swearings which are like said to a person like, "Such a shitty being you are" "Stop being a bitch" and all those. However I'm perfectly fine with swearings or more like teasing words like Dumbo, fool, stupid, hell and all which aren't really that bad.
P. S don't mind me swearing here. I rarely use them and it feels kinda unusual to say it. I'm sorry if it was offensive in any way.

I sometimes like it and sometimes don't. I think it depends on the creativity factor. For example, if you look at some Tarantino films, the characters swear left and right but they have a lot of wit to them and a wide vocabulary. Yet I don't like it so much when people seem to have a very narrow vocabulary and swear left and right.
I think the way Tarantino characters use it does have a certain variety. Even some of the repetitions seem to be used in a creative way for emphasis. I personally tend to not swear that much unless I'm cranky but if I did, I would want to do it creatively like that!
Nice response, and I think creativity changes it (and the fact the same things over and over seem really uneducated)
I enjoy the way Brits curse as well a bit more than Americans, like "wanker", "bloody hell", "twat", "plonker". I find this kind of hilarious!

Right 😂😂 (as long as it’s not super excessive I mean)
When I was in college I used to be friends with a girl who used to swear constantly. She was a city kid and thought you had to swear to be tough I guess. She really was sweet and pretty and intelligent and I always thought it made her sound cheap or something. One morning we were having breakfast in the cafeteria and I told her that I thought she was really nice but all the swearing made her sound like an jerk. She told me to go fuck myself.
An appropriate response...
I find them immature and empty in the head if all they do is rap out profanities. If it's a rare occasion (say they messed up real bad this one time) then it's okay. As ling ss it's not a regular occurence.
If someone were to argue, I'd find them 100 times scarier and convincing if they did it in a very calm and elegant manner as opposed to swearing.
In general I laugh it or join in depending on the situation. Though I am a high seizure risk so if I start slurring my words that tends to mean one is starting. Also in general people who say cursing is immature or act as if they don't due it tend to be the kind of people that like to put themselves on a pedestal. Making them worse person then a people that will curse several times when talking to someone.
Constantly? It’s annoying I heard a girl around 16/17 on the bus the other day dressed kind of enough swearing every two seccond which was kind of annoying. As for swearing moderately that’s up to you as long as it’s not overboard. I tend to swear more than average myself but know my limits. It’s normal- just use when required
I still don’t understand why people give so much power to these words. Any similar word spoken with the same amount of force or emotions holds the same intent. If I tell someone, “You’re a bumhole” opposed to “you’re an asshole”, my intent is still the same.
While I do prefer more eloquent verbal and written expression, I’m bothered more by people who get offended by swearing than those that don’t.
Some tv programs have so much swearing in them and the bleeper noise goes off so much, you can't even understand what the person is saying. 🙄
Right 😂 That’s definitely not necessary at all
I fucking love that, when i hear that, it release dopamine throughout my body.
Well swearing is not the same as using slurs. So I do not trust or like people that use slurs.
But I definitely can not truly trust a person that does not cuss. People who do not cuss tend to be more judgmental and mistrusting of people... that my experience. They are less confrontational and tend to be two faced to me. They smile to your face and then talk about you behind your back.
I definitely agree, but I mean people who cuss excessively (multiple, 2-3+ times per sentence)
childish, cringe, dumb. i use curse words sometimes, and i think it's fine, but if you just spew curse words every time you open your mouth, then that's already too much.
it's fine, the best people swear so often that it devalues the word as darogatory, which is a good thing, it leaves less opportinuty for offending people in irreversable ways.
If a person only swears when truly upset, it feels more unsettling, more hateful.
If you’re vocabulary is highly consistent with four letter vulgar words I can only think you’re dense as that’s literally the only way you have found to articulate yourself. I can’t be around those types of people for longer than 5 minutes
Like they are wearing out cuss words by desensitization of the general public. If I drop a brick on my foot and start cussing, no one will care, including myself, because profanity has been overused and abused.
I'm okay with swearing, but not excessively to the point of sounding like a 12 y/o in a csgo voice chat room
Maybe some people can't find the right words so they say "shit" instead
Sometimes, it can be overly done and/or inappropriate depending on the situation.
This naturally creates a feeling of disgust about a person.
Personally I don't curse much, I think it's unnecessary and it doesn't help with your image, I curse just when I get hurt by something. My personal rule is not to swear/curse other people, but I understand that others do that and it's not like I'll go around telling people to stop swearing either, I just don't get involved at all.
Cursing only has an impact if used infrequently or personalized.
Definitely!
On occasion it’s normal but if it’s literally every other word then tbh it’s kind of ghetto in my opinion
Depends upon who the person is if I don't know the indont care... If he's someone i hate o shouldn't care and if it's someone i like... I still don't carem.. i actually don't care... So some people actually come to me just to sit beside and take all there anger put cause they know I won't say anything about their cursing shit.
I really don't care. I swear all the time. I honestly don't understand why people get their panties in such a bunch over words. It's nothing more than a noise coming out of your mouth. Why do people get upset about one noise and not another? Silly.
I'm not a fan. I think it makes people look uneducated.
Where i work i hear it every single day at the very least about a 100 swear words a day so i got used to it.
It's so common in my culture that employees swear about everything that after a while you just don't notice it anymore.
I don’t really care. In the Marine a corps, every other word is fuck. Got used to it and now it doesn’t bother me.
Swearing/cursing/cussing is not the same as using slurs.

It bothers me to the extent that vulgarities are a sign of lower intelligence.
They probably feel cultured when they find each other and say "I see you speak the language of Karen as well, how do you ****in do?"
swearing? yes
on every sentence? no
WhoTF does that please ⁉️
I don't find it attractive. I think it's low class
I have no need to be around those people.
Off-putting when it's so frequent
show lack of vocabulary and brains
Yeah, it's juvenile. Infantile.
You sure whine a lot. [rolls eyes]
And you sure bitch and waste everyone’s time a lot, but here we are. 🙂
Another girlie-man, whining about what people say. smh
Dam it. I could MFing give a fk.
I work in the trades, that’s just the standard
Usually poorly educated
Words are just words. They don't bother me.
It's trashy.
Uncouth, uncultured, and of limited vocabulary.
I consider them to be of lower intellect.
It’s fine they’re just words.
I can’t stand it.
Poor minds.
It gets annoying.
Define ''slur''
Yea in prison work
