Bed warmer. Mostly they're used as ornaments hanging on walls of old people's houses. I reckon most people have an elderly relative who has one hanging up somewhere

Antique bed warmer. I think this would make a much better bed warmer:

Although I prefer these bed warmers more.
I remember seeing one of those things & I think you heat it up in the fire & after you do you brush your blankets with it & it warms your bed up or something like that.
Just dump the coals in the bed and sanitize it at the same time.
@Daniela1982 I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has already tried that already & I’m sure the bucket brigade was called as well. As for me I wouldn’t want my sausage to cook so I better not do that.

I think its a bed warmer, you fill it with water and put in into the oven or chimney, than the hot pan goes into the bed to warm it up. So it gets warm and cozy.

My father grew up without indoor plumbing, heat, air conditioning, etc. He said they would heat up bricks next to the hearth and put them under their blankets to keep warm in the winter.
