Have you ever found money that you forgot about?

Its definitely one of the best feelings ever lol. My job gave me a card when i started but I had them deposit my checks straight into my account instead so I never used it.
i didn’t realize that whenever I bartend, I get tipped out from all the servers and it automatically deposits into that card. So I checked it and there was almost $200 that I didn’t realize I had on there. Period. 🤪🤪🤪

Yeah! It was only $10 but that’s a fortune in “found money”! Ell oh ell!
Are we just talking cash though? I used to work two full-time jobs. I rode my bicycle to and from both. Without the free time to just run to the bank on payday, i’d fold up checks and stuff them into the inner pockets of my wallet until i had the time. I was making enough money to reward myself with a new wallet. As i was cleaning out the old wallet, i found a paycheck i never cashed! Hundreds of dollars i never “missed” because i barely had time to sleep, let alone spend the money! Ell oh ell!

Even better though… i once found keys on my favorite keychain that i’d thought i’d lost. Managed to replace my keys, but was unable to find a replacement keychain. Then i get my winter coat out of the closet and right there in my pocket… a whole set of backup keys AND my favorite keychain! I was MORE excited about the keys and keychain than that check because i never missed the check but i DID miss the keys & keychain!

Yeah, I did some work for some friends, they paid me cash.

i shoved it in the bag I had with me.

i then shoved the bag in my erm kinks box lol.

then moved house totally forgetting about it all.

over Christmas I was sorting stuff out and came across bag and the cash.

thing was, I was with my ex wife and a friend when opened the bag with cash inside

took some explaining lol.

I cashed my stimulus check and thought of saving $600 and spending the other $600. I placed the $600 inside my favorite book. And for some odd reason my brain assumed that I had spent the full check. 2 years later, I was moving to a different apartment and was packing my books, as I looked through the pages I found them again 🤯😧 with the receipt when I cashed the check 😂🤣😂 but it was the best feeling ever lol 😂

Oh, yes I have. It is one of the best feelings in the world. A mixture of surprise, joy, hope and amazement. Then the mystery of it all trying to figure out how it got there. Why you forgot it. You also feel so balling like "yeah, I have money I forgot about and I was good".

I never have done that. I had a bank account in the city back in the 80s that I used to keep a couple hundred dollars in in case I had an emergency. It was a passbook savings account. It had the serial number 1776. I don't know whatever happened to the passbook and the bank is long gone.

A random $20 bill was in the washing machine once with my clothes. I opened the lid and there it is still altogether and laying right on top of everything. I was like "hell yeah" and set it aside to dry.

A cashier later on got the cleanest $20 bill in town.

My brother worked for a company for about 25 years. Apparently the company had a retirement account for all the employees that the company contributed to. My brother didn't know about it. When the owners of the company retired they sold the company and distributed the money from that account. My brother got 100K that he didn't even know about.

Several times. Mostly it was $5-$20 bills, but the most was about $120 I put in a wooden canister that I had forgotten about for nearly a year. lol

Yes, I'd often put money aside, usually in a carry-on suitcase that I'd use when travelling, I 'found' that I'd stashed over $1000 in various different currencies.
