Ladies, if women can be into masculine hobbies, are men allowed to do the reverse?

Women can be into cars and sports and other fun things, and men will think that is awesome. But can men be curious about or even just ask about things that are normally considered to be female-based hobbies and interests?

Some men go nuts when a woman in interested in the same things they are, but why are men looked at as "creepy" or "gay" if they show the slightest interest in things you like?

I've met men who've gotten into crochet and cross-stitch since the pandemic and it's amazing. They do some really great things!

Hobbies and activities aren't gendered. They're open to anyone.

If someone has their own issues with internalized gender norms, that's their issue. Not an issue with the hobby.

Guys being into what's traditionally feminine isn't creepy or gay. It's a guy who knows himself and is strong enough to pursue what makes him happy.

Being gay makes a man gay (which is, for the record, amazing and beautiful).

Being a creep makes a man creepy (which is, for the record, horrid and disgusting).

My main example of this is wanting to talk to women about going shopping or something to that effect. But since most men don't ask about that kind of stuff they think it's "weird" that I want to know SO MUCH about it. But in truth, I want to understand their process so I can be patient and understanding of them when they do these things. That way I am not the a**hole sitting on a bench outside the store bored out of my mind. Instead I could be inside and having a conversation with her, and appreciate how much thought and effort goes into her outfit.

Same with getting ready to go out. This way I won't yell that we are late because I understand what it means to her.

I'd suggest chatting about those with the girl in question. Everyone shops differently and she may have specific feedback she's looking for, or things she'd find helpful.

Likewise, I'd suggest you give make up a try! Even just letting your girlfriend put some on or teach you how to do some simple contouring on yourself will help you gain a better understanding of the effort (and benefits) that go into that. You may even find you enjoy wearing make up! :)

I was always hoping being curious about those things would "endure" me to women, but unfortunately, I am single at the moment. With not so many prospects to choose from.

I feel like being "feminine" is a lot more deep compared to being "masculine". For example sports and cars isn't really masculine but perceived to be. Being into fashion is not feminine but it's also perceived to be.

I would absolutely encourage men to do "women hobbies" and vice versa. There shouldn't even be a gender divide when it comes to hobbies like that. Do what you love doing and find friends who share that love. We will all have a much happier life.

Men can be into cooking and cleaning or whatever used to be considered traditional female hobbies. But if he's into getting his nails done then yea i’m gonna consider him gay

I want to understand what you are thinking when you look at clothes (or other things) so I can be a part of it when women go shopping, and I can appreciate her and her outfit more when she wears them. Like if I knew it took her 2 hours to find the right dress that accentuated her shape, was the right size and color.

And when she takes an hour to get ready to go to the movies and dinner, I will asked the questions beforehand about what it takes and what it means to her, so when we are running late, I am not going to be that A**hole yelling because we are late.

It's not that I want to buy something feminine for myself, but just listen to how women thinking about the items they are getting. Guys tend to look at something and say to themselves "Yeah it's looks fine, and matches my other clothes." And walk to the register.
