She feels she's "compensated fairly" for slacking off and watching TV when she's supposed to be working? I could see that if she was an on-call firefighter or something, when there's nothing for you to io during downtime, but my goodness...
Look, I get that you don't want to kill yourself working- I do. Hell, I feel the same way. So I became a school bus driver- a job that's only about four hours a day and gave me weekends and summers off. It didn't pay much, but I don't NEED much, so it all worked out (well, until it didn't, but those were special circumstances). But taking a job you don't intend to DO is just dishonest.
With the recession and inflation and lots of jobs going away, those people are soon going to find themselves unemployed. Only this time, finding a replacement job won't be so easy, and they're going to have to face the reality of having to pay their bills. No COVID relief or eviction moratoriums this time around - they'll be out on the streets.
When there is a labor shortage, mediocre people have to be tolerated, but when there is a job shortage, mediocre people are the first ones with a pink slip.
Working to rule is what it's always been called. And in everywhere other than America, it also means "doing what you're paid to do and no more". Aka, doing your job.
Only Americans think going above and beyond what is contractually agreed upon is necessary. Seriously. Americans need to stop allowing themselves to be exploited so easily.

That is NOT the work ethic that made this country great! That simply reflects the narcissistic and self-centered attitude of a significant minority of the millenial generation.
Pathetic that's not good work ethic and it won't do you any favors.
If you want more money you have to show that your a harder worker and that your capable of handling that work and taking on more responsibility in the workplace. But if your lazy and do as little work as possible you know what's gonna happen your not gonna get raises and your always gonna get passed up for promotions.
Wanna know what happens at my job if you have the quiet quitting attitude? You get fired that's what. Or we the employee's will kick you out ourselves because we're not gonna bust our asses while you sit on yours.
While I wouldn’t be caught dead screwing off by napping or watching something at my desk at work, I also believe in doing what I am paid to do in the job description and am not interested in doing the work of 3 other people without getting recognized or compensated for it.
Some people are Achievers and some are not. Nothing has changed but Social Media. Most people on Social Media are lying anyway... Internet is a bucket full of lies.
People who are driven to Accomplish and those who are NOT Driven. Same ole... same ole Next thing it will be some social disorder that the government will fund !!!
I never defined myself by my job. I always show up on time and do what I am supposed to do but I am not one of these people who stay late every night to kiss up to the boss. I do not consider myself mediocre but i expect an employer to respect my time because that it the currency that i am using.
one side of the medal is: if the money you earn isn't enough to pay the bills anymore, you won't go above and beyond to excell at your job.
the other side is: who's gonna pay a salary that can satisfy an expensive western lifestyle, if the global competition is happy to work for a fraction of that money, cause their standards of living are way lower?
It's hilarious to see the sheer bone idleness of these folks and this shit is exactly why I'm self-employed because I can set my own hours (currently around 70 a week)
Double the work and quarter of the pay but you can't put a price on freedom
Is that what it's called? I thought this was common sense...
I don't believe in that. That's called a bad work ethic. If you're at a job, you should work to the best of your ability.
Hate to break it to you, but the practice has been around a LOT longer than millennials.
What idiot called it "quiet quitting" when "act your wage" was right there?
I the my career srs but the regular jobs had before never lol
I have a mixed opinion on it.
Rage quitting is better
