Several. The first thing i ever hit was a bird on my motorcycle. It hit the bike first and then hit me on the knee. I was only doing about 40 mph and it still hurt like hell! Ell oh ell. Then i hit a deer. Almost stopped soon enough to avoid it and hit its hind quarter. Didn’t even knock it down; it kinda halfass spun then did a funny dance to regain its balance and direction and kept right on running. Then a big ol’ buck hit me! Ran right into the side of my car and flopped over like it was dead. It wasn’t there when i was returning home from work. So either it was just unconscious, or someone scooped him up. Another time i ran over a fox. Hit it square doing about 60, never even got my foot in the brake. It was dark outside and it ran right into my path. 😢 The scariest one was a near miss on my bicycle. Early morning ride, practice for a race, and i was moving pretty fast. I was wearing one ear bud so i didn’t get a good calibration on direction and distance when i heard a ruckus in the brush. Suddenly a deer darts out of the brush right into my path, changes direction and again and again i didn’t have time to react. Luckily it missed me because if we’d collided i’d have almost certainly been more hurt than the deer! There was another time a small group of deer were running alongside the road i was driving when the leading two changed direction for the road. They would have been directly in my path, but the others turned at the same time and were headed straight at me! I slowed enough to avoid the first two and expected to get T-boned by deer for the second time in my life! Ell oh ell! They changed direction again and stayed in the field, at least until i was long past. I imagined having to tell a body shop that i hit two deer while being hit by two or three others at the same time and laughed aloud to myself.
When I was a cop, one other officer and I had to hunt down a deer that had been hit by a car. We followed it into a cemetery where the other officer loosed five rounds of.45 ACP, which caused the poor thing to stumble. I had my 12 gauge and fired two blasts, finally killing the beast... I looked up and realized a damn funeral was taking place about 100 yards away and everyone was staring at the other officer and me! I quicky jumped on my car and took off, it was the other guys (my friends) call after all 😁
Ugh yes. I have about hit several coons and possums. Unfortunately I have about hit a few deer too. My absolute closest yet was Monday evening. I was running errands after work and a deer was in the field. No harm. Well, there was another in the ditch running. I was HOPING it did not come onto the road. Guess what it did? Yep. Came onto the freaking road. I CRINGED hard, awaiting the thud. But I never heard or felt anything. I looked around, even checking my mirrors and didn't see a carcass... so I was like wtf? I checked my car when I arrived at my destination and my front end was all good. I do not know HOW I possibly missed that thing, but I'm glad I did.
I had another issue a couple months ago. It was later at night and I was on a back road. I came up on 2 decent sized deer in the middle of the road. I slam the brakes on and the go scattering different directions. I was thinking the one was going to hit into my car, but I barely missed it.
As far as actual strikes, I did hit a squirrel once. I felt AWFUL! It was on a narrow backroad (like one lane) and I sww him coming and tried every effort to slow down enough for him. At first, I thought he was going to make it. Then, I heard the little thump. He had met up with one of my back tires. I look in my mirror and sure enough, there his little body is in the road. I was like sorry little guy 😕 I had a bird hit into my front end as well. Damn thing got lodged in my grill and I had to get a stick to scrape it out. Gross. Lol
*saw
No, but had some close calls with cats and dogs. This month actually I was driving and saw a guy with a worried look on his face walk on socks, then I saw the dog, just walking in front of me, not a care in the world, just happy to be there. I was going slow but woah what are they thinking.
Or cats, they do nothing, until you're driving by them and suddenly they want to try and cross the road, some are just so stupid.
I saw a video of a deer getting hit by a car once, it went flying. It sucks, but then there was this one comment that went "Omg the car almost hit that deer. Good thing the deer flew away just in time" Had me cry laughing, I'm going to hell with no regrets.

I almost hit a bird but thank God there was nobody behind me so I drove around it. Bro, why aren’t you flying? Get off the damn road 🤣
I almost hit a duck in the road on my way to work a couple weeks ago! I was paying attention to a car stopped along side the road and barely detected the duck in the nick of time! I swerved to avoid it and thought the same thing, “Either fly, or go to bed, but gtfo the road!”. Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 🤣 right? If I had wings, I won’t be road kill 🤣

I hit a vulture
Yup. I hit a puppy on it's paw I think. Poor kid learned that day you need to GET THE HELL OUTTA THE ROAD. Of course, the kid lived as I heard him crying but I was working so I couldn't help him :(
However, when seeing an animal cross me, I hit the horn as a warning. Always works so no one gets hurt that day <3
Hit a deer once.
Came close to hitting a deer more times than I can count.
Almost hit a cow once.
I've hit racoons and opossums more times than I can count. I always swerve to miss but these are so bountiful that it happens all the time.
Yes 😫 An owl.. who was flying about 300ft above the canyon floor. Unfortunately the freeway flowed over the top of those mountains.. I did circle back as my neighbor worked for Patagonia at the time and had wildlife recovery connections. At least it was quick.
And a squirrel who doubled back. Idiot. I yelled not to. My guilt for life.
Yes, I almost hit a deer once on my way to work one morning. Came out of some bushes while I was getting into a highway in NJ. It crossed the highway from a place where there was a divider and before that a reservation. Big one, too.
A bunny whipped out in front of my car. I freaked out and thought I hit her 😭
I pulled over, didn't see her under or near my car. Then I saw her jet pass down the road.
Thank God. I almost had a heart attack.
Close yes never hit them fortunately I go slow when I see dear some dude tried to run in front of the car fortunately I’m going 10 to 15 miles an hour when I’m passing them but I’ve come close to hitting deer and elk before
Not many people can describe how a roasted sparrow smells, I hit one and it roasted on AC cooler of my car.
I don't think so, thankfully. I never hit dear, one time I slowed down so a squirrel could cross the road lol
Narrowly missed two wild boars driving a forest road at night. It might have ended with a totaled car, they were huge! 😮😮
I had a pair of red kites bounce off my windscreen, both flew off unharmed. I've had a few near misses with foxes and badgers.
Yes, smaller animals. Depending on the speed you are traveling, (in general) don’t swerve to miss them. You have a greater chance of getting into an accident, becoming injured or killed when you loose control and hit who knows what else…..
There is an overpopulation of deer in the town where I work that the anti gun nuts refuse to manage or allow anyone else to manage.
Wiped out a family of little fuzzy ducklings while there mother watched.
I've plowed a few deer and all kinds of shit really but none on purpose... and actually ate one of the deer I hit and ate the damn turkey to. One time I looked to see what these kids other side of the street were looking at and right as I went by them a cat ran into the road and I ran it over
yeah. hit a cat before. luckily i was so fast, that it completely desintegrated. so at least there was no thought about it suffering or whatever.
This comment bummed me out. I hate seeing "roadkill pets" (like dogs or cats). It really breaks my heart. Like keep them inside or in a yard.
@MysticAngel5000 well what can you do? i wasn't hoping to road kill a cat. it just litterally jumped on the street right in front of me. no seeing it coming and also i was going like 60mph or more so there was litterally no way to avoid it. i barely registered that it was even a cat and not some other small animal.
Well I didn't say you were some cold-hearted animal hater who did it on purpose. I'm just saying it naturally bums me out to see "pets" as roadkill.
A bird bounced off the top of my windscreen back in the day. No idea why it dive-bombed my car. It was something big, like a pheasant. Quite scary, I thought it was going to come through the windscreen and take my head off.
A deer a couple times, a few birds and squirrels lucky never hit one yet but came close
I ran over the a squirrel once. Once I hit a pigeon and he was stuck in my grill. I got him out with a broom and he took two steps and flew away.
Moose. Totalled my poor Hyundai and almost killed me. I come close to hitting deer every nightshift I work, just because the clients home is in the valley and they congregate.
I can't drive, my dad's hit a few birds and there was the kamikaze squirrel
still waiting to see a deer go down for my cooking pot
I actually ran over a squirell I felt bad too but the little dude dumb, how tf you running across the street in a freeway. It was like he self deleted himself on purpose.
Same. I hit a squirrel and was SO ssd when I heard the little thump and KNEW I had gotten him. I was hoping he'd miss the tire. He started to run away, then ran right for me. It was a narrow back road and I couldn't do a thing to stop it.
@MysticAngel5000 yup it's the strangest thing cause I saw him run backwards so I was like I can dodge him and then nope he turns right around and runs for the tire and I heard the clunk and I'm like damn ain't no way little buddy survived that on the highway lol cold death had me mad.
Omg same! I thought for sure he was going to make it because he darted back. Nope. Literally comes back and neets my back tire. Damn. Lol
Well damn. Smoked my first Bambi this morning on my way to work. There were 2. The first one ran across the road and I slowed way down, missed it easy because I was paying attention and saw it. Then here comes a damn second one. Nothing to be done. Slams into my driver's side and I hear the thud to confirm I got it. Witness saw it, pulled over to check on me and confirms it's still flopping in the road behind me (seriously - EW lol). Much to my shock - there appears to be no physical damage. I am taking it to a mechanic to be sure because I don't trust that whatsoever
Yes raccoons I was on my way onto a busy high way when 6 raccoons ran across. I slowed down, honked, then swerved to another lane. None were hit abd made it safely across the road
I've hit a few animals even though I tried really hard not to. I even had 1- 8 point buck run into the side of my vehicle.
Twice. When I was younger dad had no choice but to hit a dog. Was hemmed in on both sides. I don’t know how a dog could even get on the street from the curb. When I was older, hit a Canadian Goose. Eh- too many anyway.
Its a daily occurence. There's a herd that lives in my neighborhood.
I've come closer to hitting dumbasses who cross in the bypass than animals.
I grew up in the woods. I have hit seven deer. Seriously. That is a lot of headlight and radiator repair.
Dogs cats & to many deer to count. In all honesty it was the deer that ran in to me.
Mostly dogs, cats, and squirrels. Did nail a bird once.
Yes. On my first ride after geting a license I almost hit a dog.
Yes, fortunately for me they have been small one.
I've been pretty close to hitting a deer a few times, but none yet.
Three deer. A few rabbits, squirrels, snakes and a couple of cats! A bee 🐝 that went inside my motorcycle helmet! And a pheasant!
Hazards of living in the country!
Should've smoked that deer.
Smoked him
2dogs in pitch black conditions about 8 squirrels a few birds who flew into me
I've never hit one, but come close. There are approximately 50,000 car-deer accidents every year in Michigan alone.
