My SO bought a drone. It is pretty cool, but I’m complete rubbish at flying it. Have you ever flown one?
+1 yThe mini 3 pro must be nice. I've been flying my mini2 pro for about 2 years now.
I learned to fly FPV from video games to become aware of my 3D airspace, You crash a lot when moving any direction other then forward at first because the camera faces mostly forward. flying backward and sideways are bad for crashes. Don't reley on RTH to bring you home because I've had incorrect gps coordinates. Some of the biggest mistakes I think other then what I have already mentioned is Incorrect RTH altitude settings and home point settings as well as flying out to sea then realizing that you are fighting a head wind on the way back. Mini 3 pro has obstacle avoidance sensors which the mini 2 only has 1 pointing down.

I tried but not real good at it. I was never into video games. So, that sort of coordination is lacking. At least that is what I equate it to. I would think someone that has that hand-eye coordination with video games would be better.
- +1 y
coordination, and also spatial awareness... both are quite key, especially to avoid mishaps and even some damage, while handling a drone, perhaps a Prius as well
- +1 y
@NathanDavis There are few who can get the most out of a Prius. Drones? I’ll wreck those all day! 🤣
- +1 y
a privilege I would say... quite the deal on the Prius,
those poor drones... the idea is to land them well, lmao

+1 yI have not, but I have really good airplane simulation software experience. It is a very different experience than simulating a car. So many controls.
A total of 8 controls on a keyboard. 2 for moving forward and backward on the ground. 2 for moving right and left on the ground. 2 for moving up and down in the air, and 2 for angling towards the right and left direction.
All in all, 4 controls for ground maneuvering. And the other half for in-air maneuvering.
Once you get used to it, it actually works out!
24 Reply- +1 y
The joystick controls the in-air maneuvering, essentially. I also did not include the other specific technical details of an airplane. I hope at least some of the controls are common for a drone too.

+1 yI'm a pro at crashing them, not flying but the auto hover works great until my dog hears it and things it is a bird or something and then jumps at it and pulls it to the ground.
Good thing it is a cheaper model, and I got lots and lots of exercise running around to where it crashed to pick it up and try again.

I may have well shot this one. What he gets for forcing me to try it.
- +1 y
Great shot! Some drone flyers deserve to be taught a lesson... they ruin it for the legitimate drone users.
u +1 y@AviatorTom. It was at a sporting clays event. The guy was standing on an adjacent property, and refused to quit flying the drone over the stations between shooters and flying targets. The club manager told us if he persisted to shoot it down, and we were all about that lol. Five of us on the squad, each with two barrels, opened up with ten plus ounces of #8 or #7.5 shot and brought it down. Funny thing was the owner called the sheriff on us. He told the owner he was shit out of luck, and he must be crazy to think the drone would survive flying over terrain with over 80 shotgunners on the course, each with plenty of shells. That's why I don't think it's a good idea for Amazon to use drones to deliver packages around here: to most of us, that would be like clay target shooting with prizes :-)

m +1 yI've never tried one before... a friend and some acquaintances do have them, but I have not tried them before, lol
but I am positive that it would certainly survive if I ever get my hands on one of those controllers lmao16 Reply- +1 y

You can come try his. It has crash detection prevention. What it doesn’t have is Priya prevention. I outsmarted its crash detection.

lmfaoooooooo I’m dead!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Blackcupcake hahaha 😭

I bet I can crash it faster...

+1 yI have a couple drones, lost interest in them after they made it so you basically need a pilot license to fly them. Now I got a friend who I call on for drone work who's way more talented than I was ever going to be flying drones 😂
11 Reply- +1 y
I’m completely horrid at that thing.

+1 yYes, I got one of the early drones that were a pain to fly. I crashed it several times without breaking it. Finally sold it to a teenager at a garage sale. A relative gave me a more sophisticated drone for Christmas a few years ago. I occasionally fly it around the neighborhood and take pictures. It doesn't send pictures in real-time but they download after landing very easily.

+1 yI bought my hubby several drones throughout the years.
The one we both like the most is the model that we can program to follow us around and steer clear of obstacles even if nobody is controlling it.

+1 yI have, they're a lot of fun, but severely over regulated here.
The only place I can fly it is way out in the countryside or I could be jailed on terrorism offences lol
As I said l, bit of overkill in terms of restrictions. It's nearly a blanket ban for civilian recreational drones in Canada.10 Replyyea lol i kept crashing it into the ground then my dad tried to show how to fly it better and got it stuck in a tree lol

Lol that sounds like me! 🤣

This is way too funny. 🤣
- +1 y
Well, this thing has crash detection prevention. It does not have Priya prevention. I outsmarted the crash detection. 😕
- +1 y
It has sensors that detect if you are going to run into something and stops and takes control. I’m smarter than the drone and figured out how to crash anyway. 😞
s +1 yI have never but I would love to… but I know no one would let me try it because I would accidentally break it hahaha
12 Reply- +1 y
That is what happened here. I got panicky and put the controller down because I didn’t want to anymore while still in the air 😭
- +1 y
hahahahahahahahaha soulmates
I'm kinda in between rubbish, and if it tiny little people flew in it, half would survive the flight

+1 yYes but it was one of the cheaper ones so it flew very badly and crashed within minutes of unboxing. Poor drone.
25 Reply- +1 y
This one was sophisticated. I outsmarted its collision detection. Go me!
- +1 y
Yay you! But was your SO happy with your handling skills Lolll
- +1 y
Not so much! That’s what he gets for saying “just try it one time. It isn’t that hard. Okay….
- +1 y
It’s easier to crash a drone than fly it 😂
- +1 y
Indeed it is lol. I have been told my flight status is "grounded".
3.5K opinions shared on Other topic. I have flow one and didn't find it difficult, but I also know how to fly small prop planes, so...

I’m guessing that helps a lot having flying experience.
12.2K opinions shared on Other topic. I have one and I took it out in the backyard and it was harder to fly than I thought. Finally I got it stuck in the trees.

11 Reply- +1 y
You don’t even have to be a good flyer. Just stick it in auto track mode and ride. 😎 (just make sure there is zero wind)

+1 yNo. I would break it...
23 Reply- +1 y
I tried and did exactly that. Not completely but he had to fix it. That’s what he gets for forcing me to try it.
- +1 y
🤣 At least it was fixable.
- +1 y
The good thing is, the drone was not the break-it-and-replace-it kind. Designing a repairable drone is something the company should be praised for.
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yI’d be rubbish too I’m afraid.

I’m absolutely horrid.
