You see on this site how everyone had a different opinion on looks of celebrities and regular people. Even on their intellectual abilities. It's not exactly funny but it's really interesting how everyone sees the same individual differently. This site taught me that. What do you think? Do you think people on this site are serious about what they say about someone's personality, intelligence or appearance? I am very curious what you have to say on this.
Everything anyone is going to think in life, is the culmination of their entire existence, way they were raised (if raised at all), and outlook gained from that. Someone who had a sh*tty life (like me) is going to have a more pessimistic outlook and view of the world, then someone born into wealth with perfect parents.
This is just common sense, to me. Which is why you shouldn't care what other people think of you. Maybe if we were all raised the same in some sci-fi dystopian Stepford Wives society, their opinions could b seen as semi-factual. But until them, everyone has their own sh*t they're dealing with, which forms who they are as a person, even down to their opinions on looks and intelligence.
Me being someone who worked hard his entire life to barely scrap by at 36, I see nothing but a world of idiocy, politics, and favoritism where meritocracy is either dying or extinct and people only succeed by being born wealthy and kissing ass. But I'm also humble and observant enough to realize that while looks aren't that important to me, MOST people are no good looking (in my opinion) and the few who are, achieve that through near-perfect genetics, makeup, lighting, proper camera angles, and professional photography, all of which are things most people don't have access to. In other words, most (mainstream) "beauty" is fake.
So while I think most people are ugly, I'd still prefer authentic "ugliness" to plastic superficial "beauty" that most of us can't afford or don't have perfect enough parents to inherit.
As for logical brainy intelligence? You can't learn it. You're either smart or you're not. And if you have to wonder about if you are, then you most certainly aren't... In my opinion.

Different opinions on looks is normal, I think. I go more for the "girl-next-door" type rather than the glamour queen, so I will find the former more appealing and higher rated in my eyes than the latter.
Intelligence is trickier, because there are different types and we are all at different levels. Take chess, for example. I am fairly highly rated (just over 2000), and can clobber a lot of somewhat experienced players. To them I might seem brilliant. But to a grand master I might as well be a novice and to someone like Magnus Carlson I might as well be a moron (literally, not figuratively).
So from each person's perspective, one might find someone else brilliant and lovely while another might find the same person dense and average.11 Reply- +1 y
You don't like the super gorgeous women? So you rate glamour lower?
943 opinions shared on Other topic. People overrate intelligence of individuals with high social status or wealth, because they think "if this person was stupid, the person wouldn't achieve this status..". However this is wrong way of thinking because financial and social success is very often achieved with nepotism and people in power or celebrities aren't in average smarten than average person. (by politicians I tend to think it's even another way around)
In matter of looks, it's similar but inheritance of appearance is determined by DNA not connection and wealth. I've read some older studies about "pretty people are more intelligent" but my personal observations don't fit to this vague theory.21 Reply- +1 y
No offense but intelligence level of people of Europe in general is more than rest of world. Europe has education level of 99.99% in highest Level while it is 99% in Lowest European countries level. Whereas from Pakistan where I belong people have a great variation. 64% of population is illiterate and rest have college education and only 10% have university degree.
I won't hide the fact that I feel connected with most Europeans except the third world problems they usually don't face. And contrary to popular belief they have a spiritual aspect as well

For both, I think it is completely subjective. Looks are probably a preference based on genetics as well as the society a person is raised in.
intelligence I believe people base off of biased things. If they think similar to them, they will consider them intelligent.

Of course you do, we’re both highly intelligent! Obviously since we agree 😹

Yes, since the facility of anonymity and no compulsion on using your real name is there, people, whatever they say. Be it good or bad, misogynistic or pro-women, whatever. They say it in the way they mean it.
Which is good! This kind of insight is not heard from the people in real life. Those in real life are more focused on keeping their image maintained in other peoples' eyes. Hence, they are very diplomatic. Which is not good for a meaningful conversation.
Hence, I really do consider what people say here. And you know a troll when you see one. So, it all works out in the end.

Looks however, can be highly subjective.
The people I tend to find the most attractive 9 and 10 in my opinion) are often seen as a 5 or 6 in many people's opinion. The women that some people think are highly attractive are often a 5 or 6 in my opinion. Of course there are many desperate people that rate the majority of women as 9 and 10, which is mathematically impossible, but they don't understand how averages and a number line work.

We all have perceptions of other people based on our life experiences, what a lot of people consider "attractive" model type women, i find quite repulsive, its like trying too hard, too much makeup etc... but it floats A LOT of guys boats and thats okay because we are all different, and i dont expect others to like what i do. Its what makes us all different

Adriana Lima is beautiful though
I don't believe intelligence is subjective. It's something that's quite obvious. It's the capacity for abstraction, critical thinking, planning, problem solving, mental adaptability. Einstein, Marie Curie, Stephen Hawkins and Neil de Grasse Tyson are all highly intelligent individuals with their contributions to science and society.
Anyone, who claims otherwise, is just coping to feel better with themselves.
I don't take most people on the site and their opinions seriously with a few exceptions. Overall, I find people on Reddit and Quora, are much more educated, sophisticated and their posts more well-written and thoughtful. A lot of the so-called influencers and popular people tend to ask generic questions and have a simplistic mindset

Well i agree with you but Reddit is also a bit stupid
- +1 y
They rate an unattractive girl a 10 just because she has boobs bigger than my head
- +1 y
Well, you must frequent only subreddits that have to do with looks then. Reddit has a wide variety of categories on various topics, fields of knowledge and interests from Psychology to Photography, Science, History, Movies, Books etc
- +1 y
Yeah there you can see many many intelligent people
- +1 y
Obviously this is sarcasm but you can tell someone's intelligence from their speech patterns and writing. Intelligent people use a broader than average vocabulary and put extra energy into making sure they don't fall into logical fallacies or contradictory statements.
- +1 y
Yeah they are more cautious
Every person has different perspective to other person.
For a person who is liked by one, he may not be liked by another. It depends upon his perception towards person.
Regarding intelligence, God made different people with different level of intellectual. So they will judge other person with their own definition of intelligence.
So opinion of same person will always be varied by different personnel.
It also depends upon the chemistry between those two. If it matches then they will like each other.
I hope my opinion will help you have anwer of your quiry.10 Reply746 opinions shared on Other topic. People don't always agree, and feminists try to shut out people that think differently.

All of those characteristics are subjective and relative. Naturally opinions will vary. We’d have to share a hive mind to experience otherwise. This truth is at the heart of the old adage, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”. It’s not just about judging appearances. It’s about superficial judgments of all kinds, as well as prejudices.
10 Reply I think it's great that people have such varying opinions! It shows that beauty isn't objective, but subjective. So are other character qualities. It opens your mind to new ideas and perspectives. It's good for people to be open to the idea that others don't have to be like themself.
There are some trolls, but I think a lot of GAGers are themself.
10 ReplyYou are right that it's funny interesting. Intriguing.
I think so genuinely agree with what they post. And those opinions are totally subjective but made in good faith. The standards are different and so the discussions and outcomes and opinions are also different.
Then there's bots and trolls up to no good.
And then there are the anons being mean just to be mean.
So, you're right!10 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, everyone has their own level of bias, especially with celebrities. Plus, some people might be rating objectively (or trying to) but I think most people are simply just going off on their subjective opinions.

I believe in something called " averageness "... Average people have average standards for intelligence / looks... And when someone is not on the same page they're a snowflake to them... and yeah, average people are the majority... But keep in mind that some people try to always have an uncommon / opposing opinion so that they stand out and draw attention... And of course, in the end everyone is entitled to their opinion and you just like who / what you like... You can't really control or explain it... Take looks for example.. Sometimes even you, yourself can be attracted to people who aren't really your type or what you would usually look for but it just happens... so yeah it's definitely subjective... And also you have to realize there are too many people lol... The more people you see... The more different views / opinions you will find... Everyone has their own identity and way of thinking...
00 Reply 3.1K opinions shared on Other topic. For me its always been a fact of life since being a kid I had always liked bigger women or more so women that where not thin or skinny which was in opposition to how my friends viewed girls so I would say for me no

To me I rate everything based on how I feel not what’s considered attractive or smart , in the end feelings is what differentiates us from a robot.
we are born the same but life experiences is what shapes our likings and judgments.
10 Reply4.8K opinions shared on Other topic. No. Because while everyone may have thier own personal preferences it's not really even debatable about what is attractive by societal standards. And it always amuses me when you have some woman on here that says how ugly Scarlet Johansson or how ugly that guy who plays Thor is. Because odds are they're saying it out of some form of spite.🤣
