Simple question: What is the southernmost part of the United States of America?
The answer may not be so simple though.
The answer will be revealed tomorrow (Tuesday).
@OlderAndWiser explains it perfectly

Ah how dare you ask a Florida girl such an easy one… Been there many times! A buoy on Whitehead St. in Key West, in the free state of Florida!
@exitseven Thanks!
@CrazyGirl2 Notice the pylon says southernmost in "continental USA" ... that's not the southernmost in all of the United States
I would say that given there are about 125 miles of bridges to get there, key west isn’t exactly the continental United States
Visited that spot once. People had taken a dump behind that buoy and there were flies buzzing around from that. Not the best memory I have for the most famous spot in Key West.
@AviatorTom Also, if I always got them right, you’d naturally assume I was just googling the answers! (Even though I’m obviously not!)
@HaveNoName Ewww, first, what makes you think it was “human” and not Rottweiler poo? I can assure you, I have seen nothing like that anywhere in Florida! This is the Anti-California!
Haha. I have very good recognition of the 2. I have lived in the 3rd world villages in mountains where they do not have public bathrooms in the wilderness and have come across human poop many a times at close range.
@CrazyGirl2 Note that the pylon says "Southernmost Point" in "Continental USA" ... that's not all of teh United States... there's more.
Well, let me be the first to commend your Fortitude For Fecal Forensics, or more accurately your Perspicacious Poop Proficiency. Or I suppose we could just say your Superhuman Shit Skills! Hope you enjoyed my comedic alliteration.
AviatorTom I am aware of that, you may not have seen my answer the first time you wrote this. I replied “given there are about 125 miles of bridges to get there, key west doesn’t EXACTLY seem like the continental United States”.
@suzzieQ Oh, thanks for the explanation. I guess I’m just used to “JK” or “jk” after the question to indicate that the writer was “just kidding” rather than the more formal appearing “Laughing Out Loud” abbreviation. But I truly thank you for explaining that you were not laughing at my getting the answer wrong, I truly appreciate that.
American Samoa
I guess that depends on the context… Do you mean only continental or do you include territories, military bases, and research stations?
Anything that is legally part of the US
Are you referring to. . .
continental US: southern tip of Key West.
all 50 states: Hawai Island
plus possessions: American Samoa
Thanks for MHO!

Puerto Rico, which isn't a state but a territory (which they stole from Spain - give it back!).
The keys of Florida (which is a state).
If you’re talking the 50 states (excluding territories and posessions), then I’d say Hawaii. Specifically, the southern end of Hawaii (the big island). Continental US then my guess would be Key West.
Ka Lae in Hawaii's Big Island is the USA's southernmost point.
I've been there twice.
At first I thought the tip of Florida, but then I thought of the Hawaiian Islands. Probably the big island of Hawaii.
Florida is most southern most but Texas is the best. Howdy 🤠 y’all I can’t wait to move to Texas
Key West claims the Southern most point there is a marker there. The reality is the southern most point is located in an antenna farm on NAS Key West, but no one is allowed there, so the marker makes tourists feel good.
It's either Hawaii or some other Pacific island that is US territory, like Guam
American Samoa. Even more southern than Guam.
the southernmost state is Hawaii. Puerto Rico is quite south, but then so might be Guam and other territories. i dunno for sure
Don't you have some island near Antarctica
@purplepoppy There's an American scientific base at McMurdo Sound in Antarctica, but by treaty, no country owns Antarctica.
The Southernmost Point Buoy is an anchored concrete buoy in Key West, Florida, marking the southernmost point in the continental United States, the lowest latitude land of contiguous North American states. It is 18 feet above sea level.
US bases and submarines... in Antártica
I'll say Hawaii.
Oh gosh I don’t know. Puerto Rico?
American Samoa.
Florida
Hawaii is further south
Flo rida’s strip
I guess southern point of Florida.
Key west
Key West.
