Are strong winds common for your country?

In the last 2 days my country was hit by strong hurricane winds reaching speed of 80 mph (130 kph). Such winds are a rare thing for us and generally for the Balkans.

There's no data for victims (for now, at least) but there's a lot of damage. Blown away rooftops, isolation, rooted out trees, smashed cars, etc. Schools were closed because of the strong winds.

Are strong winds common for your country and how often do they hit it?

To us this is quite unusual. The last time anything like that happened I was a kid, so 20 or so years ago.

I’m not sure about strong winds. Last week there was a notification that the polar vortex was swinging back towards us; which typically means another deepfreeze. We had one in December, -40°c with the windchill. Colder at night hitting about -50°c. But so far we’ve had mild weather like 6°c today which is essentially spring weather. The wind though did pick up quite a bit today

Western Alberta lol. -50°c is rare. Usually with windchill and during a deep freeze/polar vortex. Normal is -20 to -30 without windchill. Windchill makes it -35 to -40. Today it’s like 0 and feels like -7

Oh, Canada. That explains the freaky temps. You're at the same geographic level on the world map as the Russian Syberia. But your profile reads "United States", that's why I was surprised of the temps you said.

Not to the extent other countries get them. 40-50mph is common in winter. You will get stronger winds some years but they'll only last a day or two.

I chose this image without looking much of it, I just needed it for the question cuz questions with images generally tend to attract more reader's attention.
But now that you mention it, I did look the image closely. There isn't much visible of the land in that image, but it kinda looks like Florida's about to get it.

In the southern parts of it yeah, not as much in the northern parts.

What temperatures do you usually "suffer" in the winter? Cuz our case is even weirder than usually. Normally we'd have temps way below zero (Celsius) in January (minus 5 through minus 20 Celsius) but this year we have temps like 15 degrees Celsius and spring rains. In one of our cities the measured temp was 22 degrees! That's a typical temp for late spring, not for the middle of the winter.
