that's probably when a lot of the bunch of youngsters I've tutored (especially since the pandemia years) do come back to me with their final (approved) grades and say they were inspired and motivated by our approach to their learning process... these are usually the kids that teachers have deemed as "can't be helped much" cases

I can relate. While not fully a teacher, I. once worked at a juvie, and it was the most fulfilling job I've ever had as well.

When an autistic boy of second grade finally began to like me as his reading teacher. I would bring students to my room from their regular teacher's rooms, and he would run away from the room many times. I had to chase him down with a school security guard to bring him back. No one liked this kid (teachers) because he was so behind in everything and was stubborn. Finally, when he saw I was actually trying to help him read, he took a liking to me and began coming to class on his own (I had him one on one). The reading method I used was one no other teachers knew about, but I trained for it and was so glad I did because it was the best tool I learned in my years of teaching. My real reward came the day it was time for parents to visit classrooms and teachers. His mother came to me while I waited outside my classroom door, hugged and thanked me. I was surprised but very touched by her gratitude.
