Why do scammers continue lying even when they're caught red-handed?

Good afternoon all,

So today I've finally confronted the scammer and he still continued adding more to his lie. I hope other people don't fall for it. I feel bad for innocent people working hard. I've just reported him on the site:

This is the video of my google chat conversation with an imposter pretending to travel to my country and promising ''forever love''. He didn't even get the country right. The fake ticket says USA - BRZL. I'm not in Brazil. I'm in Peru.

Even after confronting him and calling him out on his BS with the evidence, he still continued lying. Why do they continue with their scam when it's not working and the person isn't buying their BS? I hope I'm able to save others from this lying, lovebombing, scammer. He really expected me to buy him the gift card for his ''son'' so he can then ghost or block me and leave him with false promises of coming to Peru, false promises of commitment and having kids. Lowlife.

He was then trying to excuse it that I must've confused him for another guy and it's not him who sent me that fake picture. I was chatting with him on my personal work account. The only two people on my google chat are him and my boss. He was so offended that ''I've hurt his feeling by sending him a fake card'' lol. He tried to make me look like the bad person. This is similar to a scammer getting caught and calling you a scammer, lol.

Oh I didn’t think it happened to women as much because they keep trying with me on all different platforms of media, I’ve had one here that took a month before asking for money and only 2 weeks to say they love me. Most of them have been trying so hard on instagram, I also get a few on OkCupid, they even try on Reddit, it’s really been getting bad lately. You can always tell when they call you dear or hun and handsome, then say that their parents both died in a car crash , they have wasted my time constantly but I get rid of them quickly by asking for a video chat and they can’t for multiple reasons, lies on top of lies

He was telling me a sob story of being a widower and single father, age 50 and with an 6 year-old son and older daughter. They're so lowlifes. Even if their country is poor, there is always a way to make money without stealing from people. Being poor or whatever reason they got isn't an excuse to steal from people's money, from people's hard work.

Once I called him out on his lies, all of the sudden he tried turning it around, calling me the liar and how he'll prove me wrong and that I'll be apologizing to him. LOL

Yeah that’s normal for them to do, they even get angry and lie some more and threaten they will never talk to you again and then they come back anyway because they just want money that’s it, I think there’s millions of them around the world and here. Some even work for companies and that’s all they do, they’re put in all that time but will never get an honest job

It's pathetic that they can't put those skills/talent to actually make money the right way. Maybe work as a chef if one is good at cooking or a computer technican if they're good at hacking information, etc.

I'm glad that you reported this scammer on G@G they are nothing but Nigeria Scammers and if someone calls you Dear beware chances you are messing with a scammer also they tend to use fake pics in their profiles and on dating websites, etc. Trust me, I've been a victim

I'm sorry to hear that. I was a victim once to my own ex boyfriend I once knew, a real US resident. He never gave my money back. Ever since then I'm distrustful and skeptical. I'm not the same ever since.

He took a lot from me. This is what he took from me when I was in Miami, FL long ago and then during our long-distance relationship (me in Peru and him in Hialeah, FL):
- Friendship
- Emotional bonding
- Relationship
- My virginity... yeah he was my first at the time
- My youthful years with fake promises of marriage and kids; leaving me childless still
- My time
- My money

I guess my only consolation is I've gotten wiser and hardened by now.

Indeed. No one in real life will quickly declare love in a week even you haven't even met them in person, lol.
I'm distrustful and skeptical by now. I've changed ever since I got played and scammed big time by my ex boyfriend, someone I did knew long ago. If I got scammed by someone I dated in person and used to be close to, that tells a lot how distrustful I've become nowadays.

I hope I was able to save others from falling for him. I reported him and now I'm going to block him on google chat. I'm upset that I even gave him my real name, number, address and picture; minutes and days of my time. Stupid me. I've realized he was a scammer as soon as he started lovebombing me with ''I love you'' (I do not love in fall with my ears nor sweet words anymore, that doesn't work on me anymore) and requesting a gift card.
