I'm not good at either, my handwriting is awful, my typing is okay.

But it's quite common for people to not understand what I mean either because they're not listening (most likely one), I'm not saying it well, or there's critical thinking issues going on with the people listening

I’m better at writing out my thoughts than speaking them. If I get too worked up while talking to someone I usually start to shut down

Usually but, while talking, my thoughts come faster than I can express them so, I might get things a bit mixed up.
