My “traumas” honestly made me better. Because i know what not to do, who not to be around and so on. Also being forced to have sex in public places was traumatic back then but look at me now. I love it 🤷‍♀️

It's impossible not to. Everyone has hurt in their past. Family members die. Accidents happen.

How to react is the key. You can flex or break. The choice is yours.

One of my favourite books is "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl. Frankl survived Auschwitz because he chose how to react to what the Nazis did to him and his family. He said he had greater inner freedom than the Nazis guarding them.

I lost my leg. It doesn't define me, but it has changed the shape of my character. Every choice we make does.

Allow? It hard to explain. What kind of trauma, there is the positive kind and there is the bad ones. I learned how to control my trauma, a lots of war, blood and all that. There is things that changed my life where my first 20 years of life was all of it just war, hate, blood, explosions, bullets. etc. So things i keep, because it shaped my life, i have scars because of these things. Some other things that always made me think (what if) a lots of fear and nightmares, i choose to get rid of them

I try not to, but at night I have nightmares so horrid, it takes me one or two hours to get back to sleep. I have PTSD from my abusive parents. Then I have a narcissistic aunt that did atrocious things to me.

When I try to keep going and try to accomplish something, I still hear their voices in my head telling me what I loser I am, and how dumb I am.

Post-traumatic stress can cause high levels of anxiety. If I didn't have all the going on, I wouldn't allow it.

Brother, I'm a PTSD Survivor, too. Are you in therapy or on meds?

@Guardian45 I go to therapy every once in a while. It doesn't help much though, to be honest. I don't know what kind of meds I could take. I was on anti-depressants, but I don't like the sexual side effects.

The passing of my wife affects me, however, I try not to let it influence my relationships. I do ask anyone that I am seeing to respect my grieving process. I would definitely do the same for someone else in my shoes.

Can be hard not to let them effect you, like missing an ex/crush, even if you later realize you dodged a bullet it's hard to let the good memories go.

God forbid you loss a child or get assaulted in some way, they would be hard to ignore.

Unless we adhere to adlerian psychology, our life experiences inevitably shape the individuals we become.

I would say, it has effected my life, but
I wouldn't go as far to say I let it. Watching a parent taken from you,
isn't something one could just brush
    off.

Past trauma and female rejection has kept me single throughout my entire adult life. In fact, I'm 37 and sadly have never had a girlfriend.
