Selling a car is first come first serve?

Would you agree with this? Was going to look at a truck this morning and I told the person yesterday I'd come by, so when I texted them for the address this morning they never responded then I saw it sold. Is that why they never gave the address yesterday when I asked where they wanted to meet? I get it that the first person with cash in their hand gets it, but if you have someone already interested you should tell that to the next person, agree. Be like hey you can come look at it, but I have someone that looked at it today and they seemed interested.

"But if you have someone already interested you should tell that to the next person..." No. Why would they refuse to sell to someone else who was ready to buy? You could have offered them a deposit -- money to be applied to the purchase if you decided to buy, but theirs if you didn't complete the deal.

Recently my wife and I found a dining room set we wanted but we were unable to move it immediately. We gave the seller a $200 deposit, with the rest to be paid on pickup.

It sucks that happened, but yeah that's how it is.

Where were you buying it from. Like marketplace or a dealership etc?

Marketplace. I had a sketchy feeling about the person honestly. Like why not give me the address when I asked where do you want to meet? She just named the city.
