Actually yeah, you should occasionally. Your bowels can tell you if you have any medical issues, such as a GI bleed (blood in your wastes). You won't know that however, unless you check your wastes.

I'm not saying look at it ALL the time, but at least in passing when you flush just to make sure everything looks "okay."

You're supposed to every now and then to make sure nothing is wrong. Your body won't necessarily tell you what's wrong such as intense pain or vomiting.

What if you have blood in your stool or its color is not normal? Your body won't hurt at all, and you would never know if you never ever look.

I do, occasionally. Sometimes if I have a really big shit I take a quick glance at it before I flush because it blocks the toilet every now and then. I don't know why my logs can get so big, sometimes.

I work in healthcare at this point noting excrement colour and consistency as well as urine output, odour and colour is second nature to me.


But it’s good to take a look, just to make sure everything is well, that there’s no blood in the stool or any discolouration without cause
