It depends.

For most things in life, if you want something, you need to be a go-getter.

Most thing aren’t going to just fall into your lap.

If you have goals and dreams, you have fight for them.

Now, where does waiting come into play?

Waiting comes into play when it comes to not being impulsive.

There are many situations where patience and not impulsivity, is going to help you get what you want.

Like planting a crop of potatoes for example.

You can’t just sit and do nothing and expect potatoes to appear. You need to do the work. You need to work the soil and plant the seeds and water your crops. You need to do your due diligence.

After you’ve done all you can, THEN it becomes a waiting game. You’ve done all you can and now you just need to be consistent and wait for the crops to grow before you can harvest.

So in conclusion, not everything you want in life is going to just fall on your lap.

In fact, most of it won’t.

So what we need to do is focus on doing the right actions, doing what is in our control to reach our goals, and then rest is simply exercising patience and not being impulsive.

Then, good things will come.

The seeds you have sowed will blossom into what you’ve been working hard for and waiting patiently for.

This one of those things, if you are waiting on good things to happen, and they are not happening... I would rather believe that if wait and work on it that good things will happen. It's better than thinking there is no hope at all of it happening.

Lots of those good things only happen for people who are taking some type of direct action to improve or build towards something. So, when the opportunity presents itself, you are ready to act on it.

So, if you just sit around and do nothing, then I doubt very much good things will just happen... outside of getting lucky and winning the lottery.

But if you are working for something, then yes it will happen as long as you keep the faith and keep working towards your goals. Sometimes things you think you want, end up not being what you needed or really wanted, but that gets worked out in the wash as long as you stay positive and diligent about it.

I am a firm believer in taking what you want. But sometimes Patience is necessary. If you go to do something and it doesn't work then it's not time or you weren't meant to have it.
You can't always get what you want but you just might find you get what you need

Thing is, there's a difference between doing nothing while you wait and setting yourself up to improve as you wait.

Often, the "good things" aren't going to arrive out of nowhere. It's just that persistance and conistency will bring you results.

Largely, good things come to those who work very hard to earn them and make good decisions in the pursuit. There may be some waiting involved, but the waiting is usually much less important than the hard work and the wise decision-making.

I always laugh (to myself) at the people who are waiting for the world to give them something they think they deserve, some of whom have been waiting many multiples longer than they probably would have if they'd gone out in the world and done the work themselves.

I voted that it depends on things Bella. Good things can come to those who wait for sure. For example, having a goal that takes time and effort to reach. And there are probably lots of examples of having something good happen after waiting that doesn't really take any effort. But there are also probably lots of examples of someone waiting for something good to happen and it doesn't.
I think the person involved and what they do or not do plays a big part.

i honestly believe it can. However, i've learned waiting for the perfect timing can also not get you good things. So how or when should you wait? For things you can't control. And wait no longer when you are ready to not anymore. :)

I think the idea behind the saying was to encourage patience. Too many people now associate it with waiting around for something they want to land in their lap. I’m guilty of it too. It’s easier than going out of your way or taking risks.
