Honestly bro, if I was buying a rose plant it would probably mostly be because of the color. Like roses just look real nice when they bloom and add some freshness to the yard, ya feel me?
I'm not really too worried about fragrances and all that. Ain't tryna smell the flowers, just want em looking good from a distance haha. Although a nice scent sure wouldn't hurt I guess.
If I HAD to pick, I'd go for like a deep red rose bush. Something classic, you know? Or maybe yellow to stand out. But really any color would be cool except those weird pink ones. Those are too girly in my opinion.
I'd ask the garden lady what varieties bloom good and don't need a ton of maintenance. Or check online reviews. As long as it flowers nice and big, I'd be happy bro. Maybe the scent would grow on me over time too.
But end of the day it's just a plant, you know? I ain't tryna marry a rose or nothin haha. As long it brightens up the scenery a bit, that's all I need from it man!

Roses are difficult to grow in Florida. In general I wouldn't waste time on them. They suffer from fungal diseases in the humility and rainy periods, in the subtropics you get more rapid growth and root competition from competing plants which roses hate, they need to be fertilized monthly year round and every 2 weeks in the summer rains due to the sandy soil here. I like plants that demand minimal care, and more specifically do something for me. Roses are pretty much the opposite of what I look for in a plant.
