Why does the rubber ring on my laundry machine always gets crinkled?

This is the second time it happens in a matter of just a few months. Last time it happened it was so bad that the machine starting leaking water while it was working and the rubber ring had to be replaced. I don't know what am I doing wrong. This is a front load machine and we only use front load products. How can I avoid this?

The only advice I can give you is to make sure you don't close the door all the way until you are ready to wash. Otherwise, it should be left open so that the drum and seal can air out and dry. That is better for the gasket and for not having mold.

If that's a combination washer/dryer, then the gasket is going to wear out much more quickly and will need to be replaced more often. That's one of several compromises of those combo units m

My first thought is the engineers specified a poor material for the gasket. I bet if you enter your machine model and "problems with leaking", you will find others who have the same problem and a fix. There is probably an aftermarket gasket that is an improvement.

You have one of those problematic front loaders? Those rubber rings or seals have always been a problem. Maytag replaced the seal on my machine twice on warranty. The third time they said no. Everyone I know that had one of those front loaders has bite the bullet gotten rid of them & bought a new top loader.

You need to keep the glass in the door always clean cause when it gets a calcified thickness, it pushes the rubber a little bit down and the water will leak...
Make sure to dry you're washing machine glass in the door after each wash...

Never thought of it but that's very possible. The water in the middle east tends to be highly calcified. I'll follow your advice. Thanks a lot.

No worries, we have the same problem here, i'm from Lebanon and the water here nearly destroys any machine which uses water...

Interesting thought. Here in the States we often have very "hard" water which can certainly lead to scaling.

@KrakenAttackin my uncle and his family lives in Washington D. C but they do not have this problem since their washing machine type comes with a door on top, unlike the european style which is frontal...

Are you putting over the capacity, maybe you are pushing over the recommended capacity, I'm sure it's got one

Are you referring to the weight of clothes? I'm sure is not exceeding the recommended weight.

Weight and amount, I've noticed if you put too much clothes in the dryer they compress against each other and sometimes doesn't fully dry everything and leaves some things moist

The machine is mostly used for washing. The only thing I dry in the machine are the towels and even then is never too full.

i personally would not bother replacing the thing. just get a new machine (or a used one). top loaders don't typically have that problem, so maybe go for one of those.

The heat from the dryer does it. It is normal but eventually it will wear out
