What are the best and worst parts of flying for you either as a pilot, crew, or passenger?

For me as a pilot in a small plane, it is taking off, reaching altitude, and completing a complex approach and landing safely. Worst is anything going wrong including weather.

As a passenger in a commercial plane, I just need a reasonably good ascent and very safe landing on time or early. Worst is an aborted takeoff or bounced landing and also being very late.

For me it’s down to physics and electronics. On take off pretty much any aircraft can take off if the basic flight rules are in place, thrust and lift will occur. Getting to cruise height is the same thing, after that it’s down to weather and weather radar picking up bad bits. The landing for me is the meh moment, as that is more electronics than physics. You have various systems needing to work together to ensure the aircraft lines up on the runway, that the height and speed remain correct, that descent is controlled and no un commanded flight control movements occur. As I told this guy I was sitting next to all nervous waiting to take off ‘the take off is the really easy bit, the landing is where planes crash’, he asked for a double gin after that.

The only good thing about flying is you can go someplace d fAR away in a short period of time. Sitting in a cattle car with a bunch of unruly passengers does nothing for me. Neither does waiting in long lines and being Nickle and dimed to death . I would not like the cavity searches either.

So in a twin engine propeller plane, the function of the second engine is to get you to the scene of the crash more quickly.

that sounds like deflection, not truth. most twin engines can fly longer on one engine. right?

It may be able to fly a little bit longer but the end is going to be a mess. Unless the plane has counter rotating props which most do not, the plane will turn into the side with a dead engine and will keep on turning and stalling until it crashes. This is almost impossible to control adequately since if you can slow the plane down enough to stop it from turning. You will make it so slow but it won't fly. Twin engine prop planes are notorious for this problem. Conversely, the single engine plane with a dead engine essentially turns into a glider. It will keep on flying as long as you fly it properly. you need to find a place to land fairly quickly but this is survivable.

that's not what I was reading on that site... I'm no expert. I figured can adjust the prop and such. WWII planes would fly with one motor... current ones should be able to.

I suggest you try it like I have and see what you think. Adjusting the prop will not help you one bit. Remember that in a twin engine plane the engines are on the wings.

As pilot when we get emergency on bord and we have to landing . Landing is more hard then takoff

The landings as a passenger, as a pilot take off is the more critical part where things can go wrong, I used to fly with my dad, I hate my ears popping in commercial aircraft and bad weather is not good flying in
