Is Mercedes Benz a good reliable car to buy?

Mercedes is not a car, it is a brand. And this brand has dozens of different models, with different levels of reliability and especially maintenance. If you try to save on maintenance, the reliability goes down quicker and more more expensive than with non-luxury brands.
Long story short, if you are a young, inexperienced person on a certain budget, you should not get a Mercedes or any other luxury car.
sure is. but I don't know if it's the best value for money. probably no.
You saying it’s expensive?
it sure is. i mean compared with other brands. if you want a value for money machine that will actually last you a long while and not break the bank through maintenance same with BMW and AUDI, tho i personally think audy is the worst of these 3. i personally would go for honda first because hondas entire brand pride is about making motors that last... and toyota second. if you wanna go for a german brand tho, i think when all you care about is longevity, mercedes is probably your best bet.
sorry for this complicated grammatical mess xD i should probably go to bed xD
For the price you’re paying, there are a lot of other car companies that can provide more. I think it’s more so based on the brand and the concept of luxury.
That GLE in the photo you provided is heavy and is a gas guzzler.

some are better than others quality wise.
However, they are very expensive to repair.
Try a Toyota Camery, corolla or a Honda Accord, or civic.
Bullet proof and cheaper to own in the long run.
Mercs are classed as the pinnacle of German Engineering.
Would you buy one
i as a german have to say that "german engineering" and "made in germany" are past by now. we build chinese levels of "built to fail" and planned obsolescence bullshit these days to stay in competition. if you want the pinacle of engineering these days, you can only get that in japan.
@Asker I have an R8, so no. but according to @genericname85 my advice is outdated anyway.
i mean if you drive the "top of the line" of any brand, you probably won't have a care that breaks down quickly. but an R8 is NOT what i'd call value for money.
a car*
i mean don't get me wrong it's an awesome car and i'd like to own one :D but for me, it's not a financial decision that makes any sense.
@genericname85 I'll be honest, I wasn't thinking about the finances when I got it. I finished the mortgage etc. I don't regret it one bit though.
yeah i get it man. it's those things that make you feel good and that you reward yourself with :D i totally get it. but for me, at the end of the day, a car is a tool tha tdoes a job and that will last me like maybe 5 years. so i just can not get my self to spend so much on it.
@genericname85 That's cool. If everyone bought the same stuff, the world would get boring very quickly!
No, most of their cars/suv are not reliable. They break down a lot and are very expensive to fix. You are buying a name and the looks of the car.
I suppose it is good. But whan you take it in for service better bring two credit cards
Eh can be. There are better brands but Mercedes cars are decent. We have one
My mom had one years ago. They’re nice, but super expensive.
They used to be. I couldn't swear to it now. If reliability is all you care about buy a Japanese car.
Not as much as they were 20-30 years ago
The amount of old money I see with new Japanese cars and old German luxury marque or Volvo estates
If we go by brand names for reliability then you should by a Toyota and one made in Japan.
The 1920's because I dig the music, love booze, hate the law, and know how to use a Tommy gun.
Not worth the price, just get a Toyota
if you get a German made one.
It's not.
Don't buy it. Lease it
