How do you avoid hugs from people you don't want to be hug?

Why some people just can't seem to get a hit. I has happened to me. I like my space bubble and when I ste h my arm out infront of them just a little smile letting them know I don't like hugs. Out of no where the jump straight to hug me. I hate it. What do you do when you don't want to be hug? Some people just can not respect bounderies I try avoiding eye contact yet out of nowhere hug I'm like what yhe hell just happened I was caught of guard.

I just try to keep a physical distance. Hopefully they'll pick up on my body language. If they go in for a hug though, I just give them a limp side-hug if I don't want to hug them.

In the past, I've been so taken aback that I didn't hug them back. They hugged me, but I just stood there. Which is rude, but it took me by surprise. Ha.

Thank you!! :) It was usually men I didn't want to hug in the past that went in for one, and they just hugged me anyway, ignoring my lack of enthusiasm. Sadly, there's not much you can do in that situation.

Absolutely some people just give you no choice but to be straight forward. You know I'm starting not to care anymoe of people assume I'm rude. Well they must learn the hard way.

body language makes most of it... I keep a certain distance, I assertively extend my hand and greet them first, sometimes no hand shake either just a nice and kind acknowledging is enough

i warn them, "no hugs" , but when they move and embrace me anyway, my hand is between us pushing them away! i yell "stop" to make a scene.

I’ve got a friendly body language in person and I talk and smile laughing lots. It’s often misread by dudes that it’s touchy time.
In this realm I stand back always as if I’m about to leave or My hands are always in my pockets, as well I like to change my facial expressions on purpose as if I don’t understand.
