Apparently, you're talking about the lid. I always leave it up. The ONLY reason to put it down is to either hide what's in the toilet because it can't be flushed or, you just need someplace to sit down or, you use it to rest your foot on while drying your legs after a bath. Kinda defeats the purpose of the shower, though! You JUST washed your feet so, now, you're going to place them on a germ-ridden device used for excrement, piss and vomit?
it is useful before and during the flush as weirdos like me do and ALSO liam here wrote
Seat and lid down. Minimizes aerosolized particles in the air.

but that is during the flush. but afterward lift up like i do.
Toilet seat down. If you leave it up and have your phone on the counter or anything else accidentally fall in, it's on you and nobody else. Having the seat down is especially needed for the bathroom that has a shower, since you'd want to put your clean clothes on the lid and not the floor.
@PBandJ_Nerd haha and the toilet should only be for going toilet
At home I leave the seat down and lid up. But in public loos I lift the seat to screw with the mind of the next girl.
Most of our public restrooms don't have lids on the toilets, just a seat.
oh man! she will think a man was there R. O. F. L.
@strateguy632 Either that or that somebody cleaned it and couldn't be arsed to restore things afterward.

The toilets in my house are always seat down and lid up
Seat down and lid up? You mean it's opened for someome to sit on it?
@TonyMetal___86 yess
Why the seat is down? 🤔
When your husband enters the bathroom to pee? Does he pee on the seat or lift it up than when he finishes he pull it down? In this case why don't you pull it up when you finish just like when he finishes he pull it down for you...
@TonyMetal___86 my husband and sons pee with the seat down
You mean they sit? Well if it's okay with them so be it!
@TonyMetal___86 sometimes but usually they just aim through the seat. It's still a big open hole
Hahaha, that's a thing 😂😂
Miss apples is the coach of aiming 🤣🤣
Down. I share a restroom with several females at work and i hear about it if i leave the seat up!
but she meant ring down not lid
@strateguy632 There is no lid on the toilets at the office; only a seat.
It wouldn't bother me! If they want the seat down it's up to THEM to put it down before they use it! Why do WE HAVE to be pussy-whipped?
@FunkyMonkee "If they want the seat down it's up to THEM to put it down before they use it!" You are right, but. . . that is not how I gauge PW. It's a rather inconsequential detail in my life. And sometimes, there are things more important than just being right.
PW? Paul Watson?
I vote for seat down. I pee and poop sitting down, and it's easier to sit on the toilet with the seat down. I really only see a reason to lift it up when I'm cleaning the bowl. I suppose I could lift the seat up from time to time throughout the day just to make it look like a real man lives here, but that's too much work for me when the only audience is myself and I see through my deceit easily enough.
@adam6402 I might not be grown in every way. To quote myself from a previous discussion on the matter:
" I only stand and pee when there are those drops that don't want to come out in the sitting position. When I was a kid, a kind of chaperone/counselor who was supervising a group of children of which I was a part noticed how poor our aim was when urinating and suggested the option of sitting down to pee. I have found it more pleasant. With how long it takes me to pee, it can get uncomfortable standing still that long. I once saw a sign that said, 'If your dick is too small for you to aim, sit and pee like the woman you are.' While I don't disagree with the sign's message completely, I feel like calling me a "woman" is offensive... to women. Women are much finer specimens than I."
Sometimes I use an empty toilet paper roll to separate the seat so it can dry faster.

I mean, feel free to leave it down but don't come bitching to me saying there's piss splatter on the seat. I'm not lifting it up to take a piss then putting it back down, that's a woman's responsibility. Your problem, your responsibility.
It's our responsibility to lift up the seat every time you take a piss?
@Jennifer604 if so why man responsibility to put seat down after?
each prepares for themself.
@strateguy632 Because we left it clean and down. Try to leave things the way you found them, okay?
@Jennifer604 than when you enter and see the seat up, keep it up the way you found it 😂
Look i know that this whole topic is silly and we are arguing over a silly toilet seat but that's not the point, the point is why women thinks that things should work the way they want to and not the other way around or having priviliges over men, they don't even accept a fair solution which is closing the whole seat, i mean seat plus lid! 🤣
Like i said, if you want it down than keep it up when you finish or pull it the way it suits you when you enter or the last choice is closing the whole seat!
Always seat down for me. I have learned very well overtime to urinate while standing up with the seat down. If I get some droplets on the seat, I can just wipe them off immediately with toilet paper. No big deal. I try to minimize touching the toilet seat with my hands as much as possible. Just gross to me. Also, there are times, especially when I first wake up, I rather sit when I pee.
I have to leave the toilet seat down or my dogs will try and drink from it.. and before you ask, yes I am CONSTANTLY changing their drinking water every couple of hours! They are just fascinated by it.
Why is everyone talking about the lid when this question is about the seat? Well, seat down, obviously, but I don't know what to do with the lid. I feel like there are pros and cons to either.
You want to keep the seat always down? Why? If you pee while you're sitting, men pee while their standing...
If you want a man to respect you and you respecting a man than close the whole bathroom chair!
@TonyMetal___86 Why is a man using my toilet?
Cause it's not a public toilet dah 🤣
@TonyMetal___86 Men can pee while they are sitting. They just refuse to.
It's not my problem if you can't pee while standing, i haven't created you this way!
If you want to be respected than lift the seat up for men or close the lid so that a man will lower the seat for you or close it like it was!
You don't get priviliges just because you're a women well not in my book anyways!
@TonyMetal___86 Is it a privilege to not fall in the toilet?
Why would you fall in the toilet? Don't you have hands to pull back down? Or are you blind and cannot see that the seat is up? 🤔
Common miss jennifer, no need for lame excuses!
The seat is made to be pulled down and up, which means the person who enters the bathroom can lift it up or pull it down, it's not my business or your business to predict on who's going to be next!
In my opinion,. the best way is to close the whole seat, that's it, it's healthier and safer!
I move it up and down. When I'm urinating, I keep it in the up position. Otherwise, I keep it down.
SEAT AND LID DOWN.
At home I usually sit to pee, so the seat is almost always down.
I put it down afterwards. Mom taught me that one.
Seat down for the wife. Don't want her falling in
but she can look! and this picture was the lid not the ring.
@strateguy632 she can. Doesn't mean she will. Plus it is more sanitary to do both and I care about my wife so I don't mind putting it down just in case.
Lid down too it keeps the 💩 in the toilet. Mythbusters did an episode on this you should watch it.
We are civilized in our house. Down always.
I have several bathrooms I leave them up I live alone. I keep them up and I use one bathroom for number two so that stays down.
If it’s up that means you flushed and everything inside the toilet got splashed around the toilet and on it. And on you. Nasty.
Seat down lid down... It looks tidier in my opinion
I voted up but I just went back to check and the seat and lid were both down. The mind plays strange tricks sometimes.
up in the men's room. Down in a shared bathroom
My wife trained me to put the seat down.
@exitseven Every woman I've known has taught me the same. Since I sometimes like to be a rebel, I sometimes leave the seat up...
