I will never understand why this is even a debate. The seat should always be closed, when not in use. Period. This shouldn't even be a gender issue.

Y'all close your fridge when you're finished with it, right? You close your cabinets when you're done. You don't leave the garage open all night, or do you park outside and leave the car doors open? Do you leave the microwave door open all the time? No?

Then close the damn toilet when you're finished with it, you freakin' animals. Nobody wants to walk into the bathroom and see the inside of your toilet bowl. Plus, closing it keeps the shit particles from flying everywhere when you flush.

I live by myself, and I always put the toilet lid down after using the toilet, and before flushing.

Why would anyone want to leave the toilet lid up?

The toilet looks neater with the lid down, and there is then no chance of accidentally dropping something into the toilet.
