I never met him in person, but i also never heard him use any other voice. I gotta believe that’s his real voice. As a public persona, it would probably be exhausting to have to constantly think about which voice to use and when. So i don’t imagine a lot of people go that route. Like Bobcat Goldthwait; he uses a very normal voice nowadays.

Yes, it was. I was working when I saw him in person the locker room area and he would have a beer and he said can you watch my beer for me big guy and he would talk to me. He’s exactly the same as he is on TV but more friendly.

He was always in character.
If you watch WWE Legends Lanny Poffo (his brother) talks about Macho Man creating the voice. He said after he created it and started using it he doesn't think he ever heard him talk the same again. The Macho man was really committed to whatever he did. He probably had some OCD. He was a right handed pitcher when he played baseball and he taught himself to be ambidextrous in case they needed a lefty. The Macho man was freak about preparation.
I think he was excellent speaking in character as well as probably deep. I liked him pretty well but The Piper is my fav. Nobody hit anger vocally like Roddy.
Yeah, it was actually his voice, confirmed by other wrestlers.. I love that dude he was truly a character..
Probably. I don't recall him speaking with any other tone or inflection.
