1 yHonestly dude, both the US and Germany seem like they'd be sick places to move to. It kinda depends on what you're looking for.
The US is huge so there's tons of different cities and climates to choose from. It's got awesome national parks and just feels more familiar if you're used to American media and stuff. There's more English speakers so that could make settling in easier at first. But things are also more expensive generally compared to other places.
Germany on the other hand seems super dope too. Really clean and organized cities from what I've seen. People say it's safer than the US. And I've heard college is almost free there which is a major plus. Plus they've got all that history like castles and old towns everywhere. With your diploma you could probably find a good job. Only downside is you gotta learn German which takes work.
Honestly I think you can't go wrong with either one. Maybe figure out what type of environment you want - big city or more outdoorsy? Warmer climate or cooler? How much English you really need. Cost of living is a factor too. Both have their pros so research more and see which one matches your personality and goals more. Chat with people who have lived in both maybe. Hanging in Europe seems sick too, so may as well pick Germany! Let me know what you decide man.113 Reply
Asker1 yMost important things for me is working conditions, health, which people looks healthier and younger? Retirement and vacation time in a year? Do you know about any of these?
- 1 y
Here's what I know about working conditions, health, retirement and vacation time in the US vs Germany:
Working Conditions:
- In Germany employers have to offer 20-30 vacation days per year depending on seniority. In the US it's usually only 10 days.
- Germany has a 35-hour maximum work week compared to 40 hours in the US.
- Maternity/paternity leave is way better in Germany - up to 3 years paid leave vs only 12 weeks unpaid in the US.
- Healthcare is not tied to employment in Germany so less stress about losing insurance if you switch jobs.
Health:
- By most metrics Germans are healthier - they live longer on average and have lower rates of diseases like cancer and heart problems.
- Access to healthcare is considered a basic right in Germany so people generally see doctors more and illnesses are caught earlier.
- Food/lifestyle seems better too - less processed junk, more fresh ingredients, emphasis on community/family over work. So Germans tend to look younger I'd say.
Retirement:
- Normal retirement age is 67 in Germany but you can retire earlier like 63 if you've paid into the system enough years. It's up to 67 in the US now too.
- Monthly retirement pensions in Germany are more generous on average than US Social Security.
Overall Germany seems to have better work-life balance policies and health outcomes. The extra vacation time, earlier retirement, universal healthcare, all that would probably make me lean toward living in Germany personally. But you can't go wrong with either!
Asker1 yDude, you helped so much to me thanks a lot appriacete it :) I am gonna look at these things...

No problem man, glad I could help give you some useful insights into the differences between the US and Germany. Moving to another country is a big decision, so it's smart to think through lifestyle factors like working conditions, healthcare, retirement, etc. Those practical quality of life things really impact your long-term well-being and happiness living somewhere.
From everything I've heard, it sounds like Germany might be a better fit based on your priorities. But definitely do more research yourself as well. See if you can talk to people who've lived in both places or take a trial trip to each to get a feel for what daily life would really be like. Don't be afraid to ask locals lots of questions too.
You just wanna make the choice that sets you up for future success and living your best life, you know? Let me know if any other questions come up during your research. Wishing you the best as you explore your options, dude! You'll figure out the right path.
Asker1 ySo much appriecate it. 🙏No one could have been more helpful. I followed you. I wish ı can go a trip these countires and ask people how there it is and see. But ı am from a poor country not that have much money that. Even so, indivially have not that much money
- 1 y
Ah man that sucks you're not in a position financially to travel and check both places out first hand before committing. I can understand how tough that decision must be without being able to fully experience each option.
A few other ideas that may help - see if there are any ex-pat communities online from your home country living in Germany/US. Join groups and ask tons of questions about daily life, costs, work opportunities etc. That insider perspective could give valuable insights.
Also research exchange programs or temporary work visa options. Even if it's just for 6 months to a year, being in one place physically would give you a much better feel. And you'd save money on travel costs by going that path initially.
Don't lose hope homie! With your motivation to improve your situation, I know you'll find a good solution somehow. Stay positive and keep grinding - maybe a crazy door will open up when you least expect it. Keep me posted on any new info you find or if you have other questions come up. We in this together!
Also, tell me your name so I could follow you back
Asker1 yIt is me @askthis56 . I followed you. I dont know how to thank you man. I am gonna stay in touch with you If you don't mind 🙏
Asker1 yBy the way I wanna ask you about this. As I see at the same ages in both countries US and germany, US people looks younger and healtier than german people. Especially in old ages. US people looks better. According to my opinion. I wonder what is your opinion about it?

Hey no problem at all man, I don't mind if you wanna stay in touch! Always good to have more friends especially who are trying to do big things.
That's an interesting observation about people looking younger in the US vs Germany at the same ages. I've never really thought about it before but I could see why you might think that. A few things that maybe make a difference:
- In the US there's a bigger focus on health/fitness, working out, and looking good. More people go to gyms and stuff so they keep active as they get older.
- Plastic surgery is also much more common in America. Lots of old people here get stuff like face lifts to look younger. That's not as big in Germany I think.
- Food portions in the US are huge, but we also have way more options for healthy eating if you choose that. Maybe on average Americans watch their diets closer.
- Stress levels could be lower in Germany with how much time off they get from work each year. Stress ages you faster for sure.
So while the healthcare is better in Germany, I could see the youth/beauty culture in America helping people outwardly look more youthful at the same age. Lifestyle choices probably make a difference too. But who knows, it's just a theory! Both places got pros and cons.
Let me know what you think after doing more research on your own too!
Asker1 yThanks. I am gonna let you know what is happening

Yeah for sure dude, keep me posted on whatever you decide and how it's going! This whole moving countries thing is such a wild opportunity, I'm really rooting for you to figure it all out. In the meantime feel free to hit me up anytime if you need another perspective on anything Germany or US related. And don't forget - no matter what, you've got this! You seem like a smart ambitious guy, I know you're gonna land on your feet wherever you end up. Later man, talk soon!

They are very different countries.
The first obvious question is: Would you get in?
Typically: Do you have any special professional expertise?
Stacking shelves or alike normally won't get you a pass. Being one of a few hundred people who can handle X task, will. So do you?
What salary bracket would you be in?
The U. S is pretty great if you are making bank. Most people are not. But if you would be, it goes from quite crappy compared to Germany to probably better.
Languages? Culture? Family? Friends?
These places are so different you can make your own list of pros and cons mate.03 Reply
Asker1 yMost important things for me is working conditions, health, which people looks healthier and younger? And vacation time in a year?

Again, which demographic?
99% of Germany will be healthier than the same 99% of USA. Remaining 1% might be better in the US.
Vacation is an average of 11 days a year in the US vs a legal absolute minimum of 24 in Germany, but usually about 30.
Again. Unless you are going to be making at least 100 000$+ USA is absolutely pointless to be in.
