How does an animal who’s eyes are on the sides of their head see things?

Like, what does it look like for them? Is there is a black void in between their vision or something? Or does it overlap in a way like us?

Prey often have eyes located on the sides of their skull. Eyes on the side of the head give prey a larger field of vision than the stereo vision like the one of humans. We are limited to about 160 degrees of vision while those animals can have over 300 degrees for field of vision. Animals such as rabbits can recognize danger coming from behind except for a very small 40-60 degree dead spot which is located just behind the skull.

Side eye animals like goats, horses, sheep and rabbits have about 350° vision with a blind spot right in front of them. Their pupil is rectangular in shape to extend their area of vision. Predators like cats pupils will change to vertical slits to help with their depth perception. But for prey animals it helps with recognizing dangers

The lack depth vision, its harder for them to focus and judge the distance from them to a certain object, but they can see almost 360° around them, so they spot a potential predator even when its coming from behind. Just as you were looking through a fisheye lense.

Depends on what animal and how the eye works some animals cans see uv light like some birds , an owl has awesome eye sight and it does not even use them to hunt while say a eagle uses its vision and some small animals pretty much see in slow motion
