How many of you hand wash your car at home vs taking it to a car wash and how often do you wash it?

Also, how often do you give the interior a thorough cleaning? I gave the interior of my car a thorough cleaning over the weekend and it was gross! I literally had to brush my seats to get all the hair out of them, then a vacuum and shampooing. It's probably been close to six months since I gave it a good cleaning but I'm gonna try to do it every month or so, because my baby looks beautiful! I take her through the carwash every week, so the outside always looks nice, it's just the inside that needs a little more TLC.

Normally I'm out there cleaning my vehicles once a week, although that isn't possible at the moment!

1) Hose down

2) Shampoo using the hose applicator attachment/ wash off

3) Wax (only do this once a month)

4) Polish

5) Wheel Rims Gel

6) I Hoover out inside every couple of weeks and apply interior polish to dashboard area

I wouldn't use the car wash because the brushes damages the paintwork over time. Hand wash places are ok but I still prefer to do it myself.

I wash and wax it in the spring and again in the fall. Between I had wash it in my driveway. In the winter I take it to the car wash when it gets dirty. I do the interior. Last week I crawled in the back and washed the bedliner which I had never done before.

Last car wash I had the vertical beam cloth brush came down with a hard thump on my bumper. I was pissed.


Home washing and waxing always comes out better. Good exercise too.

3-4 times per year in car wash. Inside I clean it by myself 1-2 times per year in garage. I don't need that guys from my neighborhood look at me like hungry dogs on piece of meat.

hand wash and wax twice a year as I don't have covered parking at work. Other than that, car wash. I prefer the wash in the bays were you use the sprayer.

Out of curiosity, how much does the "deluxe" drive through carwash cost? Here, it's twelve bucks! A friend of mine that lives in WI pays eight dollars.

I have to hand wash it every few weeks in summer cuz I live on a dirt road and it gets dirty so quick. The rest of the year i just let the rain take care of it 😅 I do try and wax it 2-3 times a year even once during winter.

I do get the wax job at the carwash, I don't know if it does any good but it smells really good! I live near the ocean but thankfully we don't get the damp, salty humidity from it. I feel sorry for the northern people with the snow and salt!

What do you wear? lol It's funny, a few years ago, my college fraternity had a carwash to raise money at a hardware store parking lot. There were guys that had their car washed three, four times! My uncle was one of them. 🤣🤣

🤣🤣 Not that I know of. It was cool, because the hardware store donated everything we needed to wash the cars. Soap, buckets, 🧽, the hose... but I'm sure they had the surveillance cameras on us. By the end of the second day, a lot of the girls had been drinking and were trying to pull each other's tops and bottoms off, so we ended it about two hrs early. lol

Actually, it was a lot of fun. We met a lot of nice people that were very generous but things did get a little out of hand. The store manager was pissed, because he knew some of the girls were drinking underage, so they told us to leave lol...

I actually think it does a better job, tbh. I have a pressure washer at home that my boyfriend used but physically, I have a hard time using it and I don't think he likes when I use it. A garden hose, with soap and brushes do a horrible job! Streaks, dirt spots everywhere!

I'm a total "car chick", and I'm particular about keeping my car spotless inside and out. I spent a lot of $$$ for it, and my building has a nice wash bay in the parking garage, so I clean it a few times a week.

As for me I hand wash my vehicle & the only time I take my vehicle to the car wash is when I’m on a road trip or the vehicle gets really dirty. As for the inside when I wash it I vacuum & clean the inside before washing.

Hand washing in the sense that I use the lance and brush-lance in the washing boxes instead of sending the car through the machine on the belt conveyor. I don’t have the time or patience to futz around with a small hand sponge. 🚿>🧽

The body of the car will start to rust if you wash it every week. Do it only when it's needed.

I dislike car washes because they destroy the paint and often cause damage to the vehicle's trim, mirrors, and windshield wipers.

And yes, interiors can get nasty if you aren't careful
