All humans are related to the same ancestors of we go back far enough but obviously we don't consider all humanity as our relatives so how many generations apart do we have to be to be no longer related?
Like 10 generations apart?

You share 50% of your DNA with each parent
So that's 50% with each sibling
25% with your uncle or aunt or grand parent
12.5% with your cousin or great grandparents
6.25 great great grandparents or first half cousins
This keeps going like
3.12
1.56
0.78
0.39
0.19
And so on but never reaches zero
Or here's a useful table https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coefficient_of_relationship
I would probably say around 10 generations just to play it safe if we’re talking about sharing a common ancestral DNA. But I think socially speaking (depending on your culture), as long as you don’t share great grand parents then you’re not considered to be closely related anymore so I guess 3-4 generations apart minimum?

That’s not true if you want to get technical. Human beings are a phenotypical expression of three amalgamated species of prehistoric beings. The humans who comprise most highly in the African genome, the Denisovans who comprise most highly in the Pacific Islander population and the Neanderthals who compromise most highly in the East Asian and European population. All three mixed together to create a tri-variant mixed gene pool that creates the human beings we have today and there is not a single gene that distinguishes an African from a non African because African features are calibrated through facial recognition by clustering habits and not by isolated traits. There is more genetic variation in Africa than there is in all other ethnic groups and non minority groups combined so African genes are not monolithic clusters that are easy to categorize at the genetic level.
But how many generations apart must two people be to be unrelated?
Technically, you can get away with two without too many birth defects in the children. Like two first cousins, for example. But I wouldn’t be all that eager to commit incest, even with a distant relative.
Wouldn't it depend on how much DNA in common you have?
but approximately how many generations would that be?
Four, I believe.
I think 2 generation 🤔
twelve
Not sure
