How long after a grandparent's death should the granchild get married?

The grandchild plans to get married but his/her grandparent dies when can he/she get married after the funeral?

Actually this is a very good question I would say when you are made up in your mind when you have been through some of the morning process of losing your grandparents either it being the grandfather or the grandmother or both at the same time this is a rough road so please don't let anybody rush you into the process of healing from something like this because there is no time frame of when you should get married if he or she can't understand that then he or she is truly not the one for you.

I don't think there's anything prescribed anymore. In the old days, particularly England, there were some fairly strict rules on all this.

But, now, I'd just talk to the grandparent (or the parent) and see where they're at on their journey of grief. The thing is, they might welcome the wedding as part of their discovery that there are still good things in the world, even after their partner's passing.

They say basic grief is three months. But it can take much longer than that to process as everyone is different. I would guess it really depends on the couple and how the loss has effected each of them.

On average maybe 3 months. That's about the distance between most large family gatherings, so people will usually be getting back together to celebrate some holiday by 3 months after a death anyway. Celebrating a wedding shouldn't cause much more upset than that.

Unless your particular culture or religious beliefs specify a time line, get married whenever you are finished with your grieving period. That will be different for each person.

I think a couple of weeks to a month would be fine.

Probably not the day after. That might be a bit too soon.

There is no limit but it is best to wait 3-40 days. I know I might wait longer. I never met mine but I did think of my SOs grandparents as my own.

Ummm. Unless that grandchild was married to there grandparents. That doesn’t matter. Get married whenever you want. It’s not stipulated on anything else.

Everyone takes their own time to process things and mourn. So whenever you feel ready.
