Even if you said that is not true, they still remain to believe the lie. What would you do? Fight or just leave it and let them believe whatever they want? And keep it moving? What is your take on this.

1 yWhen dealing with someone who spreads lies about you, a calm and strategic approach is often the most effective. Instead of getting defensive or reacting emotionally, consider a few options: first, try to address the situation directly with the person spreading the lies, according to Quora and explain your side of the story. If that doesn't work, consider limiting your contact with that person, especially if the lying continues. You can also take steps to correct the misinformation by addressing it with others who may be affected by it.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Address the situation directly (if possible):
Have a calm conversation with the person spreading the lies. Explain your perspective and the truth of the matter.
Limit contact if needed:
If the person continues to spread lies, limit your interactions with them.
Correct misinformation:
If the lies are affecting your reputation or relationships, take steps to correct the record. This could involve talking to others, posting a clarification, or even seeking legal advice.
Protect your reputation:
Consider your options for protecting your reputation, which may include sending a cease-and-desist letter if the defamation is serious.
Focus on your values and actions:
Living in alignment with your values can help counter the negative impact of false rumors.
Ignore the negativity:
Sometimes, the best response is to simply ignore the negativity and focus on your own actions and goals.01 Reply- 1 y
I wait for people to be direct with me but nobody is. So i cannot react to air. I will just live my life. Fuck em all!

Another thing you can do if they are still spreading lies and rumors about you , is to start spreading lies and rumors about them and give them a taste of their own medicine , because it’s all about the he says she says Bullshit !! I think you better quit letting shit slip, or you’ll be leaving with a fat lip 😊
393 opinions shared on Other topic. I literally just ignore it. Once in highschool somehow some girl who didn’t like me said someone said this about me “ “ you know, blah blah blah, but me as a person overall, was super immune to gossip and least likely to get swept up into drama. Very neutral kind of person. So when she said I was just amused and then forgot about it.
My reaction was like: “oh really? Wow…” maybe even added “that’s odd.” And ignored it 😂
I never let such trivial things bother me. Especially not HIGH SCHOOLERS. It bothered other ladies who became topic of drama and fallacies, like even having some kind of break down, but I just couldn’t relate all that much. It’s just words. People will always see for themselves what people are like and capable of. Etc. etc.

u 1 yIf you get down to wrestle with pigs, you get up covered with mud.
I had that experience about five years ago. It was my sister. I simply did everything I could to exclude her from my life. I did not attend events which she would attend, blocked her on all media, and never spoke to her. My silence was not a means of punishing her, but just a way to protect myself. She died last month and never reconciled.
10 Reply 2.1K opinions shared on Other topic. I think the answer to this is context specific.
But I know in a work environment I think you should challenge that person and then bring it up directly with recipients of that information and the boss.
In my job there's a lot of slagging people off, for example one staff member said another wasn't pulling his weight, without foundation. The problem with that is if you throw some mud, it sticks. So he dealt with it in the right way, by going to the boss and explaining that this kind of character assassination is not acceptable.
21 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Good question. It depends:
- Some people are only fleeting individuals in your life. Block them and move on. If someone asks about the lie that person told, shut it down and just say that person is confused. Period. Don't tug at the thread and unravel the sweater.
- Other people are around you all the time and lying. Those should be pulled aside for a chat. Give them one second chance. If they persist with the lies and dishonesty then cut them off.
30 ReplyMy answer is being myself. Those who truly know me will know how to separate the false words from the actual me. Those who don't, would hear to my actions, which speak louder.
If I can and think it would be worth doing it, I may have a direct talk to the "lies spreader" and ask them to stop it.
If this could harm me in some more serious way, I would look for my lawyer.

1 yNo bother. I live and function with a high degree of integrity. I have need in my life neither people who start rumors nor people who would believe falsehoods about me without talking to me first. Video games are much more satisfying when i feel compelled to be childish and unproductive.

1 yAvoid, avoid, avoid, avoid... and if that doesn't work then avoid.
If it gets to the point that it damages your economic wellbeing, then you may have reason for a slander suit. That would be something to receive legal advice.
Otherwise, consider leaving the environment. There are bad people and there is no way for you to make them into good people.

1 yOnly ever had this problem once. A guy. What he didn’t know was that the people he was trying to turn against me - other women - knew my character very well and filled me in on what this guy was doing. I just let him continue and just distanced myself from him. End of problem.

1 yGet the truth out to the extent I even know what's happening.
I've had times when people are saying foul stuff about me, and no one even tells me what's being said.
12 Reply- 1 y
What do you mean with get the truth out to the extent? They don't believe whatever you tell them. Clarify what you mean please
- 1 y
All you can do is make a claim and provide the receipts. At the end of the day, people will believe whatever they want to believe, regardless of the facts. But if you provide evidence to back up your claim, at least people won’t accuse you of running your mouth.
1 yI don’t think there’s any point giving clarification or something when it’s a lie… people who truly love you wouldn’t believe in those lies

1 ySimply ignore it. I had lots of pathetic people do this to me in life and you don't need to defend yourself to them as the people who are real, genuine and know you know it's bs already or will at least have the respect to ask you about it to your face.
Another thing I like to do is just go along with it and even extend the lie to make it so unbelievable people realise how stupid of a rumour it is
00 ReplyAs someone who has always had lies spread about me, you just eventually learn to ignore it honestly. The only person that knows the real you is you and honestly that should matter because at the end of the day, you are your own family, your own best friend, your own lover, your own everything.

if you are truly one who shows that… people will know…
if those trust lies… you wouldn’t want to be involved with them.

And later they embarrass themselves.
Once they are discredited, I ridicule them - and onwards they can speak whatever they want.

Opinion Owner1 yI was in this situation twice and the second time i tried to remain impartial so my heart wouldn't get hurt again but and this is a big BUT my heart still wavered towards her my feelings were still there for her regardless of how logical and impartial i tried being. It's like she still has a special place in my heart regardless of how much she hates me and can't stand my guts
Opinion Owner1 yBasically a mutual acquaintance of ours told me some information about her some was correct about the part of her being married some incorrect about her going after asshole guys and about her having a boyfriend while she was married. My brain kept making similarities that happened to me a very long time ago back in 2001-2003 with a certain someone and kept correlating those events to what was taking place in 2024 to 2025 my own heartbreak trauma and insecurity got the better of me i guess my brain and heart were trying to protect myself from getting hurt again which was why i was so prone to believing she had a boyfriend while she was married the rumor our mutual acquaintance told me
Opinion Owner1 yUnfortunately with how angry and stubborn she is to forgive people and let go of anger and resentment over a mistake and her lack of ability to put herself in my shoes/situation made it difficult for her to forgive and move on past it. I had already taken responsibility for my part in it a long time ago and explained it to her but it made no difference. I guess the fact she was so reluctant on telling me her last name and martial status just reinforced those events that took place back in 2001-2003 and her living in the same exact state as the woman from my past made it all the more triggering for my past experience correlating to recent events but she still didn't care and won't change her mind stubborn you might say
I would shoot him in the balls, cut his dick off and shove it down his throat. It was self defense your honor.
