It depends, if it was something that was within the believable range of something that you would do… there may not be anything you can to disprove it. You can’t really prove a negative. But people who lie about others usually try to make the lie believable, but outside of character of the person being lied about! Those who know you best would know that you just wouldn’t do that, and that may have to be small consolation. However if it happened to me and there was a way to prove the lie… I would sue their ass off!

Pay it no attention. As someone who had shitty rumours ruin their school years, the more attention you pay to rumours, the worse they get. People who spread rumours are bored with their own lives and they’re attention seekers. So if you give them attention, ofcourse they’re going to keep spreading rumours. Best to focus on your own life and your true friends will know what’s real and what’s not.

Unless you are a public figure, it probably won't matter. Your true friends won't believe them. Ugly people often try this and it just reveals to others how ugly they are. There's little legal recourse because the people that do this rarely have any assets you could collect if you filed suit.

in my humble opinion, it depends on the “lies” and why they’re being spread/how they came about because many times, there’s no smoke without fire… but that doesn’t mean that it’s always true, it could be complete lies of course, or maybe part true… or full truth… who knows? lol

U can't really do anything. People that do that usually don't like their own life so they criticize other people. The ones they focus on the most are the ones they're jealous of.
