I used to work at a restaurant about 15 years ago. One of the regulars dropped his wallet under the table. I was the bus boy that night and found it, and gave it to the manager who put it in the safe. There was at least $300, a check for $600, and a couple credit cards. I didn't know the guy but kept asking co-workers if one of their customers lost a wallet. A couple weeks later, one of the waitresses said a guy who always comes in with his family for the Sunday brunch lost a wallet. He was very happy that I didn't take his money.
I would make a honest attempt to return it. If I can’t find the owner I would turn it in. Even from a selfish standpoint you would want someone to return your wallet without taking anything. If everyone just took things then when you loose something it’s gone
Take it to the police office when it's open.
I'd flip through the wallet or purse to find any identification or contact details. If I find something, I'd reach out to the person to return it. If no contact info is available, I'd hand it over to local authorities or the nearest lost and found, ensuring it gets back to its rightful owner. Doing a small good deed makes a big difference! 😊

I would rifle through it looking for communication contacts. If that failed then I would keep the cash and move on.
I would look for identification in the wallet and return everything intact to the rightful owner.
look them up on social media and message them
Give it to the cops, let them deal with it.
