Yesterday a repairman came to my unit, found wallet in hand, and I helped to locate the owner online. Was not easy, as he has a very common name here, but there was one identifying piece of I. D. from his ex-wife in the wallet, and that helped me to find him.

I don’t really need money, but even if I did, whoever is well that is probably needs more. I found some money on the ground, that’s a little bit of a different story. I actually saw that five dollar bill on the ground the other day, and I picked it up, but then I noticed I was right next to a outdoor restaurant and I thought maybe it was a tip from off the table so all I took it over to a nearby wait standAnd stuck it under a bottle of hot sauce.
I was curious, so like two hours later when I was coming back the same way, I looked and nobody moved it from under the hot sauce, but I don’t know I just felt like for $5 if it’s someone’s tip I would feel bad that I took it. It’s not worth five bucks to feel like that. I’m not even sure if the restaurant was open, I didn’t see anybody out there either time. Another time, I found a credit card on the ground, same sort of area. I live in the Harbor, so there’s like tourists a lot of tourists. I just took that credit card to the harbormasters office and slid it into the mail slot, I know papa patrol runs out of there so they could probably figure out how to get it back to the person. Someone returned my registration for my motorcycle that somehow flew out. I don’t know if people are lying, but I think they’re telling the truth and it looks like hundred percent of people so far would return the wallet. I think that’s part of human beans in our nature, we want to do the right thing, and wanna have the right thing done by us. Honestly, some of the people who might take something, they probably so poor they need it more than I do anyway. But in a good society, that’s the way it should work. People shouldn’t be taking what isn’t theirs, they give back to the owner what is rightfully the owners. And try to find who it belongs to. It’s the golden rule.
I just know the stress levels went through the roof for that person when they realized they don't have it. Having to replace everything in the wallet would be added stress, especially when you don't have time to do it.
In the past I have returned the wallet. But it was on insist where I returned the wallet to the person who claimed it was there’s and it wasn’t. They ended up taking the cash.
I like the idea of finders keepers losers weepers. It hopefully teaches the person who lost the wallet a valuable lesson of keeping up with your belongings or consequences can & will occur.

I would return it. Absolutely. If I couldn't track the person down, myself, then I'd turn it in to the police or, if I found it in a store, give it to the manager. One thing that comes to mind is, what do I need with a wallet or someone else's credit cards? Plus, I would think of how hard it is for someone replace things that they carry in a wallet. They might even have irreplaceable items in there. I couldn't live with the idea of putting someone through that. I wouldn't even take the money. I don't know that person. It might be all the money they had. I will say, though, that I've found money on the ground before and didn't attempt to find who it belonged to. If I saw the person who dropped it, that would be a different matter. One time I walked out of a mini-mart and left my money clip on the counter. When I realized that it was missing, I realized where I must have left it. I went back the next day and they had it, but the $40 it had contained was gone. I was actually very, very happy to recover the money clip, though, because my sister had given it to me many years earlier and I liked it a lot. I wrote off the money but was grateful to the person at the store who had at least turned in the money clip.
Yes because first of all we all lost something at a certain point and know what it feels like... Second of all you'll get a huge self satisfaction when you see how much it means to that person if you end up finding his wallet and handling it to them. And on top of all these, my religion states that if you find something and keep it and you know who it belongs to it counts as stealing. We have a saying here that goes do good and you'll find the good Who knows maybe you'll lose something one day
I've been the recipient of such a thing. I dropped it as a teen. While the person returned the wallet with all contents, they decided to pry into my life, and grill me about the pictures of people contained inside. While I appreciated their hospitality and honesty, I was appalled at their willingness to pry and otherwise invade privacy. Since then, I choose to carry nothing personal beyond a state-issued ID, a credit card, P38 can opener, two guitar picks, and an inconsequential amount of cash.
Were I in the position to find a wallet, I'd take it either to the nearest police station, or anonymously mail it to the person, with all contents contained and otherwise untouched. I believe in privacy.
Absolutely! I have done it. I'm in no way inclined to take advantage of the money inside or whatever. Last time I found a wallet, the police were about 100 feet away arresting someone. When they were finished, I walked up to one and said that I found the wallet and I asked if they were able to return it to the owner. The address on the driver's license was only about a half mile away. I'd imagine they had to book their suspect first though... LOL The policeman actually seemed kind of surprised that I turned it in to him. Funny...

I'd have to return it because of how I was raised. My father is a veteran and police officer. He is very big on discipline and respect and as a result of him raising me the way he did its basically impossible for me to just pocket it. It's like I was brainwashed lol

I would! I once found someone's ID Card in a parking lot, and it had almost everything regarding information about the person... Except the Phone number. Dang it! I wish ID cards had numbers on them, in case they're lost. It was next to a car, so I put it exactly where I found it, and prayed they would find it.
Yes I think it would be wise for everyone to write a note "please return to/contact" and then a phone number, inside all wallets.
I do that with my luggage when I travel. An airline lost my luggage once and it was some Radiohead tickets with my name and contact info that saved me. Lesson learned! 🦉
I would absolutely try to find the owner and return it. I don't understand how anyone could have a clear conscience and keep it, and would be deeply disappointed in anyone who would think that was an even mildly appropriate way to handle that situation.
It's as simple as this; if I were to lose my wallet, I would want it returned to me. Therfore, if I found a lost wallet, I would return it to the rightful owner.
Yes I would. I've had one returned also. It took several months to get it returned, but it was lost in a remote area back in the woods.

I've phone a wallet and a phone (on separate occasions) in the shopping cart at my local grocery store. I turned in the wallet to the business center at the store. The phone belonged to someone that I know and I had her sister's number and she came and picked it up.
Of course! I wouldn’t want someone to steal my wallet. Plus, who knows who the owner could be. They could be the only working parent of a household or a student who is working to support their siblings or family.
I'd return if they can say their last name correctly and give the proper address/list some identifying info from the card. Like the specific date of birth. Something simple that they owner should obviously know. So at the very least I know I gave it back to the right person.
Someone left their purse on top of the car while visiting her sister. I looked in the bag to see who it belonged to. I just happen to know the lady and knew where she was at the time. When I gave her bag to her, the sister said she better be glad it was me who found it. Everything was in was returned.

Yes, I would return it to them and one thing I found someone's Medical card and I mailed it to their name and address but no one contacted me back and it never came back also if I found a Wallet if it had no name in it I would contact the police
I would just drop it by the police station and let them track down the owner and return it. A few years back I did pick up a wallet and it had the guy's driver's license and a few photos in it nothing else. I went and knocked on the guys door and he was down right nasty about getting his almost empty wallet back. He was under the impression I stole it I guess.

Identifying information, I'd definitely try to find the owner and return the wallet with all items intact (money, credit cards, etc.) No identification at all, no way to find said owner, I honestly don't know what I'd do in that situation...
Yes. I would take out the cash as finding fee, tho. Except its like thousands in there. But Usually people have like 50-100 bucks. I would take it and send the wallet with all the credit cards, etc. via postal service back.
