It happens , i feel that way more as i am getting older and realizing i need a change , or i need something great to happen , because i pretty much already experienced a lot already , so there isn’t much more that excites me , I realized most people are assholes , I realized working your ass off at a job doesn’t really get you anywhere , we are just a number that’s easily replaced. I realized love doesn’t always last forever , I realized people that you thought were your friends’ aren’t really your friends’ most of them will back stab you in a second , I realized most people are selfish and only really care about themselves , I realized life goes by faster than I thought it would. So there is so much shit that i experienced and accomplished and witnessed to the point there isn’t really much left to excite me , the only things that do excite me , is sex and music and beer , so just live your life the best way that you can because tomorrow is not promised , we are all going to die one way or another , so enjoy your life as much as possible and fuck what other people think or say , Every human on this planet is Toxic , some learn from their mistakes and others don’t give a shit and continue the mistakes. We also live in a world that only cares about money , Fuck Money , if we were actually wise humans we would all work together to survive instead of being greedy sums of bitches
trigger warning suicide
Yes when I had a burnout and got depressed, the only thing that made me feel anything was thinking about slitting my throat at the job that made me so exhausted and letting them deal with it. I didn't even hate them but deep inside I must have felt a lot of resentment to feel like this. I didn't consciously make a decision of how I would kill myself it just came to me. But the depression was just because of being overworked I knew that I would feel better again if I could rest so I wasn't actually going to do it. I just felt like that. I can see how if someone is depressed long term it will be a challenge.
I think numbness is where feeling might begin to return. For me it’s felt like the colour bleeding out from the sky and everything going grayscale with it.
There’s some resilience to this bleakness though. Sometimes when I’m feeling overly optimistic I think it’s like winter stripping trees off their leaves to help them get new ones. When you’re that far down… you’d think you can’t be any worse right? So you just stop your fear of falling.
A little thing that brings you joy could keep you from spiralling further and further into your own head. Just a bit of solace. And then some. At least it does for me!
Yes. A couple of times. I was fortunate enough to receive the help I needed and to discover how to move forward and be happy. That worked for me. In fact, a friend I met here on GAG helped me through to the other side not long ago. He knows who he is and I am so thankful for his friendship.

I felt like there was nothing to push against. I was diagnosed with clinical depression and my doctor gave me meds. I had weird side effects so i stopped taking them.
I had a friend who was a life coach. she told me that depression can be caused by being out of the loop of control of our lives (these are her words) I really took that to heart and I really tried to do things that would give me more control over my life. Or at least make myself think that i had more control. It actually helped and then we had Covid so everything got screwed up again.
@LiaRaven it sounds like you are depressed. I usually am the last person to suggest that you see a professional and get some help but maybe you should think about it.
I kinda live there.
That said, there is a rule I've always kept in mind regardless of the situation:
IT CAN AND WILL ALWAYS GET WORSE.
Generally, if I treat my life with complete apathy and neglect, it will always find a way to punish me for it sooner or later... so I have to at least apply some effort to maintain my existence even if I have no actual desire to bother and it feels like I've got nothing to lose, mostly motivated by the abstract existential horror of unknown events making my life permanently worse in ways I can't even comprehend (which has happened quite a few times).
I did experience this, very formally said,
"mental disorder characterized by at least two weeks of pervasive low mood, low self-esteem, and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities."
Yes I did. And it was clearly more than two weeks, back then, more like months 🫤
A person can be so overwhelmed by personal circumstances that you lack any capacity take in anything around you. That doesn’t automatically make you a bad person, it’s your body and mind putting itself into preservation mode.
We all need to stop and make time for self care and to rest, taking breaks from news, social media and even technology is important. If you’ve experienced some trauma, you should seek out appropriate therapy and or counseling.
It’s not weak to ask for help.
I have... but after all that happened, I learned to ask for help if the time comes... so... I treat it like a lesson I needed :D
Since a while already. But it makes me comfortable and actually GIVES me the strength to care - selectively :)
https://www.youtube.com/embed/eHKG7EMxWW8No. I've been few times in such situation but my psychological profile prevents me from being overwhelmed by negative emotions or sorrows. I just turn the switch and act like cold and calculating until I'm out of such situation.
It is not how you get knock down, but how quickly you get back up again that counts.
That always been my attitude. I have had downtimes, but not for long.
No never. I've always managed to find the strength from somewhere inside of me to carry on.
Thank you. Your internal landscape is an unexplored planet. If you work on navigating and cultivating what's inside of you, that will be your strength and trust me if you do that you'll be fine. There's no order without chaos and no chaos without order. What makes a difference is how you choose to interact with your own chaos that doesn't necessarily have to be a disadvantage. 🫶
Yup about a year and 3 months ago. I wanted to disappear but stopped myself because that's impossible to actually do and the aftermath would have been really sad for those who found me not to mention the people I know.
Yh everyone has but it takes self reflection and realization that if I get like this I won't really get anywhere in life the mind is powerful that can get you off you feet quickly it's all in the mind the mindset
That's called clinical depression and you need to get help to get through it with a therapist/psychiatrist and likely medication, temporarily.
Yeah, in the past. Therapy and time usually helps.
yeah... and then, my friends dragged me out of bed...
well... we still gotta go out and pay taxes
ew... sounds like a Nickelback song
We shall talk about this Nickelback related trauma, one day.
How does Nickelback make you feel? 🧐
@NathanDavis who is Nickelback lol
@Maybe_Maybe_not a trauma? That’s alarming lol
@NathanDavis Someone must've planted a hidden camera in my bedroom!!
@NathanDavis I back flip into bed like that every night...
@Caroline91 that's what coffee does to you!!
Yes often, but then I remember there is nothing else to do but keep going. I know that I can live with myself if I always try.
Yes.. and it's usually linked to depression..
It's on and off a lot for me this past 5 or six months, euphoria on one end and absolute desolation on the other. It's exhausting, too many reasons why to go over in a post
Yes once or twice in my very blessed life. Im 43. 2 months away from 44. They pass. Things get better. When you are in Hell dont stop to admire the scenery. Get out of there. You can't say you've been through shit when your still in shit. Get out!!
With most things in life, I don't think it's bad personally
Yes that’s how I’ve been feeling as of lately. I cannot find a damn to give.
Yes, quite recently actually. Then I quit taking statins. True story.
I am trying to care about myself. I still care about my brother and a few close friends
Yes. t the end of my first year of high school I had a nervous breakdown. Luckily never again since.
Lately with the concept of relationships, I feel that way.
Depression is real. People get into the line of work to help.
There's a clinical term for that called anhedonia
I am at that point only… where nothing scares me anymore… can’t take any more stress… so left everything on destiny
Yes we all go through this point...
But I bounce back hard asf 😔
Sometimes due to overthinking loneliness depression
yeah its easy to get to that point
Never that low but closer
Yes... it's called depression
Once or twice. Not fun. Wouldn't recommend.
No, I haven't. It sounds like hell though
I'm getting close!
Thanks, that's how I'm beginning to feel now!
Definitely and depends what it was.
Yep, virtually every other day
Yes I have, I know how you feel :(
So many times...
