Do you have a FLOWER GARDEN?

I have a black thumb. I kill plants. I even killed a cactus once, something that survives just about everything, except me; I supposedly overwatered it.

My wife, on the other hand, is great with plants.

What about you?

Are you good with plants? Do you have a flower garden?

Yes. We have flowers as well as flowering bushes and trees. Different ones bloom at different times of the year.

The first thing that blooms in the spring is a sprawling, 5' high, rosemary bush than we have had for well over10 years. It turns purple all over with tiny flowers that attract pollinators. It blooms for weeks. I love it so much.

Next is an old lilac bush that looks like a tree with a thick, gnarled trunk. And a redbud tree. Those don't bloom for long, but they are beautiful and they are a sign of spring.

I grow edible plants and a couple support species. So, sure when plants produce fruit they flower... Other edibles like those in the ginger family (e. g. ginger, turmeric, galangal) have nice flowers, and certain edible flowers like Turk's Cap Hibiscus are also appealing, but I don't grow plants just to see flowers or make flower arrangements. That's a side effect of growing edibles...

I'm not particularly good with plants. Our yard is always in a kind of controlled natural state. Every year, I throw around some wild flower seeds and it is really quite effective in beautifying the space. We also have shrubs and trees that take very little maintenance and interesting rock formations and water features along a winding brick pathway.

Flower gardens always remind me of Hannah McKay from Dexter. She was a florist and a serial killer.

He tried to kill her once, but he couldn't because he was in love with her. Rather than stabbing her they had sex right on his kill table. Later on Hannah proved to be a good friend to Dexter. She raised Harrison in Argentina for Dexter while Dexter disappeared basically. Hannah later died of cancer as far as I know at this point.

Well I have a balcony of wall hanging pots with flowers if that counts and I just bought some hydroponic pots for the other balcony which I will grow BIGRED geraniums and jasmine.

You can't go wrong with hydroponics. Last year the tomatos requisitioned two thirds of my large balcony. I am expecting a good floral display in a couple of months.

I put in wildflowers to help out the bees and birds since we've raised most of the land around here and replaced it with grass, it's the little I can do to help them out. They provide entertainment and color.

I have a very small one my grandmother planted about 60 years ago. It's nice when the flowers bloom but, it sucks that they wither and die within a couple weeks and the rest of the year it's just grass.

Yes, although flowers are only a part of the plan. Hostas for ground cover, plus a veggie area are there. Bushes in varied sizes, and extensive use of false perspective makes the yard look bigger than its actual 22 foot depth.

I am exactly like you. Yes, I have killed too many plants and yes cacti as well. So I think I gave up... I'll just do what I am good at.

Yes it's filled with traditional cottage flowers, nasturtiums, daisies, delphiniums, that kind of thing

I have a tropical greenhouse. Most of the plants have flowers at some time.
