Most all of us have heard the saying , "You can't put a square peg in a round hole." But is that really true?

I mean little square pixels make up round images so, like, isn't that the same thing but just kind of different somehow?

And, of course , I asked AI and got this answer but it wasn't really all that helpful at all:

If the distance (d) from the center to a pixel is greater than the radius (r) of the circle, the computer makes that pixel invisible:

I mean, that's almost like math or something and is just way too confusing before my 5th cup of coffee and didn't really answer my ultimate, scientific, oh-so-smart question, Can you put a square peg in a round hole?

I don't think square pixels making up a circle is really comparable to whether you can fit a square peg into a round hole. But what AI was basically saying is that, in order to show a circle in pixels, the computer makes all the pixels outside the circle invisible (which isn't necessarily true, since they could just be a different color, and also, the pixels inside the circle could be visible, too, if it's not showing the circle filled).

To answer your question, you can fit a square peg into a round hole if the length of the peg is smaller than the diameter of the circle.

Pie is an infinite number it goes on forever.
The square root is a single number times itself.

If Pie is infinite, no other number × that same number can equate pie...

Now I'm an expert at putting things in the wrong hole. As long as the square is smaller than the wrong hole it'll fit. Alternatively you need a stretchy round hole and the square peg needs to show who's boss. Just remember that just because you can put a round peg in a square hole it doesn't mean you can take it out.

You can if it’s small enough and the hole is big enough, but it won’t stay. You would need a round peg about the same diameter as the hold to make it fit and stay there.

To answer your question, it is possible to fit a large square plug into a small hole, depending on how you go about it.

Perhaps the square plug was made of ice, and simple melt the ice and put it in the hole.

Funnily, in traditional shipwrighting, etc. they did put square pegs in round holes. Well octagonal pegs, normally. Hammering them in knocks the corners off, spreading the timber wider to fill the round hole and leaving a tight joint. If you put a round peg in a round hole it almost always ends up loose.

Sure it depends on the relationship between the diameter of the round hole and the length of the sides of the square. The relationship is the Diameter divided by the square root of 2. Or about 0.707 X the diameter of the round hole.

If the distance between the corners of the square peg is smaller the the diameter of the hole you can. If larger you can't.

Pixels are very small so a lot of the them will fit into a circle.
